At last, I got a male African Paradise-flycatcher.

Make sure to look at all the photos of the bird in here.

What a lovely way to end the old year.

We needed to get away from all of the holiday crowds, and what better than to find an isolated spot down at the river. Listening to the gurgling song of the water flow over the rocks, accompanied by a chorus of birdsong. So much better than the repetitive Christmas melodies ringing out at every shop in town, and the pushing and shoving of people hunting bargains.
Nothing of the sort at the river, as only peace and nature reigns.

A few shots of this magical bird that you will never see again.

I saw an unexpected movement on the riverbank, and decided to scroll a length with my camera.

And this sight stopped my camera in its tracks. What a rare golden find.

African Paradise Flycatcher (Terpsiphone viridis) is one of many paradise flycatchers across the world. And each of the species in other countries have different colors.

The paradise flycatchers (Terpsiphone) are a genus of birds in the family Monarchidae. The genus ranges across Africa and Asia, as well as a number of islands. A few species are migratory, but the majority are resident. The most telling characteristic of the genus is the long tail streamers of the males of many species. In addition to the long tails the males and females are sexually dimorphic and have rufous, black and white plumage.

Now if you want to see the colors of the paradise flycatchers in the other countries, you can see them all at this source above.

This is what I call nature's treasures as no money can buy impromptu sights like this.

And then he even looked at me, so, I will be sure to print and frame this picture below.

Then he flew away and landed in this bush.

A last look at me, and then he was gone.

Such a great gift to end the year off, and it left me in a very happy state. Just goes to show that sitting in an isolated quiet spot with a camera can deliver miracles. No need to push, or to rush, but only to sit in peace, and to allow nature to work its magic. Of course, one has to adore nature, and all that the Creator left freely for us to enjoy.

I felt such a warm glow in my heart when this bird appeared out of nowhere. Almost as if to say that I deserved it, even as I know that I deserve nothing. But I am not complaining, as when I see something unusual, I simply click it with my camera. The flycatchers are very shy birds, and this one gave me a rare opportunity to come and sit in the open like this.
Such is life.

I hope that you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

That's a cute bird with an amazing tail. We don't get anything like that around here.

Happy new year!

Very shy and only my second, or third time to see the male. They won't be there, as they are not migratory.

A blessed new year also to you and your family.

Very difficult to capture them, I have the good fortune of seeing them normally in Spring. Tail not quite as long as this handsome chap, great captures it does pay to sit quietly in a tranquil spot and allow nature to come to you.
