And there is the baby sunbird.

I have been keeping an eye on that nest since the eggs stage and now after a time the baby finally appeared. It is a Malachite Sunbird baby.

As I mentioned before, the spring season has caught us out by arriving before its due time. The birds don't seem to mind, and they are happily enduring the rain and the sunlight. Amazing how they can build their nests to last during the tons of water that came down. We were worried about the sunbird nest, but by grace it has lasted and all is well.
A happy occasion to get our first sight of the baby sunbird.

This was the dad feeding the baby.

And here we had the mom also feeding the baby.

And as the mom left, the baby was screaming, Please don't go!

This is a young Fiscal Shrike, and he has learned how to look after himself.

He popped down to scout around for insects on the wet roadside.

And finally, a Weaver mom and a Cape Sparrow dad were sharing some news of the day here.

The birds definitely don't mind the water, as instead they know that the wet brings up many insects that are easy to catch when the insects are wet. This is the way that nature feeds its own and it always so wonderful to see. A pity that this cannot happen in the human situation, as our street corners and traffic lights have many beggars standing on them. We have tried many times to offer them skills training opportunities, but no way, as they reckon that they earn more on the streets.
I wish people would learn to rather donate the money that they give the beggars to non-profits and NGO's, or local community projects that offer sustainable help. Drugs are also a real issue here that create many problems. But, like I always say, such is life and we do what we can to help.
