Amazing weather that we have here.

We were warned about strong winds for the day, and rain later in the day.

So, I decided to go out there to see what things looked like, and let me tell you that I was not disappointed.

Oh yes, we had a very wet and tough winter, with hundreds of people displaced, and of ZAR millions of damages. Some dams couldn't cope with falling tons of water, and the dam wall simply collapsed, drowning many animals and crops downstream. Subsequently the area qualified to be declared a Disaster Area. But I have told you some of this before during the cold front series of winter storms that arrived here over the past weeks. One other thing that I can tell you, is that we are all now tired of the rain. The wind was indeed very strong, and kudos to the weatherman that got the weathercasts correct this time.
So come and watch the storm approach with us.

At times the racing swirly clouds seemed to be trying to remove the mountains, but the mountains know all of their tricks and they stood firm during the clouds' onslaught. The racing wind was howling through the trees, but I saw something that I have not concentrated on before. The wind was not constant, as during short periods there was no wind. Then an almighty windy gust would come in, one that even catches the birds in flight off-guard. Shame, the poor birds miscalculated, as they took off during a lull in the wind, and the strong gusts almost flipped them over. So, then the birds come down at speed to seek shelter behind the trees.
However, I have to say that the pied crows are the only birds that like to fly during the strong gusts.
In the photo below you can see a few birds high up above the mountain.

Gradually, the light started to change to a slightly darker hue, which only had a more beautiful effect in the pictures.

So, there you have it, and we want to thank all of you for spending half of the day with us. We left at 13:00Hrs to do some things, and now we are back home. I think that I told you before that not one day is the same over here, and I love to see the changes. In fact, I cannot get enough of it, as it keeps me busy in my spare time. Over now 7 years on Hive, I have posted many of nature's wonders, and as long as I live, I will continue to have a passion for nature in all of its forms.
Such is life.
