A day before a cold front landed.

Level 4 warnings were out for destructive winds and floods.

There is a large dam behind that mountain wall at the front, and the buildings that you see are our hydro water works.

My wife's parents came down for a visit, as the last time that we saw them was long ago. It just so happens that my father-in-law is a retired geologist, and he worked on the structure of the dam behind that wall many years ago. So, we decided to take them for a drive out into the country, and I have many photos about that trip that I will show you soon. Don't get me wrong, as we were very happy to see the folks again, but we didn't want to stay stuck in the house talking all day, and it was a wise thing to take them out for a drive. The dad knew most of the places, but there were a few new ones that he had not seen since he was here, and I showed him something that blew his mind. Now I know that you would want to know what the new something was, and I will make sure that I also show it to you guys.

But to get back to the day before the cold front landed, all of the pictures in here were on that day.
So, come and have a look.

The sun was leaking rays through the dark clouds that arrived.

We took a drive out to see what the weather could conjure up, and the 4 photos below were taken earlier in the day. Can you see 9 egret birds taking flight in this picture?

A beautiful start before the heavy stuff stated to arrive.

The sunlight on my camera lens caused some psychedelic colors in this picture.

There were 9 egrets at the bottom right of the picture below, but I was too late to zoom them.

.
And here we were on our way back home.

At first, we stopped at a shop, and while the wife was doing her thing inside the shop, I took the 2 photos below of the surrounds.

Ah! A familiar sight as we neared our home.

Finally, I will show you this last shot of the day.

I have to say, that we are looking forward to the cold front, and no I am not crazy as I like the cold. Some brrrrr photos will be on the cards, and I cannot wait. Hopefully, the clouds will also be pregnant with rain, as I saw recently that our dam levels are not of the best that they could be. Of course, the problem is always the damages that are caused by the winds and people have been warned to try to stay off the roads, as uprooted trees and roof sheets could land on the roads and cause serious accidents. We are also worried about the people that live in the informal dwellings as very strong winds can also create many damages there. The emergency services are all on high alert and we can only hope that they will not have very much to do.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
