A 20 minute miracle...
...flash in the pan as only a smattering of the rain fell.

One can never know for sure what the weather will do on any given day.
This was such a day, as without notice, somebody opened a water bucket upstairs and decided to tip it out on the land below. No need to ask as of course I got wet, but I was so excited that I almost forgot to cover my camera. We haven't had rain since winter, and many areas of the country are facing severe droughts. I have said before that the dam levels are running low due to the heat of the severe summer sun, and one province in the country stated that they are running dry as they have only 13 days of water left.
The amazing thing is that higher up north in the country, they are struggling with dangerous floods, but they are far away from here, and we sit high and dry.
So, at first, I will show you the build-up to the rain, and then the lovely life-giving stuff.
That cloud below looked like a leaping dolphin.
And then the sun was clouded over.
The thing is that we have seen this a few times before, but then it will stay dry here, like our driveway and the road below, as the strong winds would simply blow it all over the mountains.
And then the heavens opened for a very short while.
Yay! Just look at this, as all of a sudden, the water came down.
Oh yes, I rushed outside with a happy heart.
And then just like that it was done. All over and so sad to watch it go.
A flash in the pan indeed and our only hope was that the rain would increase in the areas where they are fighting the wild fires. We have a series of fires running here for several days now, and the sad thing is that one of the townships also burnt down, leaving thousands that lost everything. They reckon that it was one of the worst township fires in our history. Thankfully the emergency relief departments, and also a range of relief organisations are at the scene to assist the people.
Lately things are not easy here, as it is one catastrophe after another, that makes one's head spin. Papillon is currently working on a new child malnutrition project, but so many indications also tell us to do something about the volunteer firefighters and their families. Time will tell as usual, and let's see what we can do about it. My thought is that this might be the time for our HBD to start playing a supporting role. It is known that the Papillon account is not for personal enrichment, as all of the income belongs to Papillon.
Such is life.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

Loved these photos, that short burst of rain really feels like a small miracle, I hope you get much more soon for the drought and the fires.
Thank you, and amazingly we had more rain last night that was a great help to tame the fires.
