Chhorii 2 Review: A One-Time Watch with a Powerful Message

Story Overview

Where the story of Chhorii 1 ended, the story of Chhorii 2 begins right from there. Nusrat has a daughter. She now lives far away from that cursed village and its people. But even though Nusrat left the village, the village and its people never left Nusrat.

Nusrat has to return to that village again for her daughter. This time this movie is showing why she is going back to the village for her daughter and what happens to her and her daughter after going to this village. This entire movie is going to be about all of this. Now let's talk about the positive and negative aspects of this movie.

Positive Aspects

First of all, while watching such a part 2, the audience has a question that, can I watch part 2 if I haven't watched part 1? The answer is, yes. And this is the first positive aspect of this movie that even if you haven't watched part 1, you can watch part 2. There is no problem.

Because the story of part 1 is beautifully told in part 2. I mean, you will get the basic story in part 2. The basic story of part 1 is told in part 2 at one place. And that very beautifully. You will understand the whole story, the basic story, roughly in part 1. For that, there is no need to watch part 1 separately.

If you watch part 1, you can carry forward the emotions there to part 2. But, if someone does not want to watch, then he can also watch Chhorii 2 directly. He will not have any difficulty.

Next is its message. Chhorii always comes with a message about girls, we know that. The message that was in Chhorii 1, that girls are killed at birth, sometimes before birth, sometimes after birth. And the birth of girls is considered a curse. The message was given about that thing in Chhorii 1.

Chhorii 2 also has a similar message. This time they are giving a message on child marriage. That girls are married off to older people at a young age, before they reach puberty. They are introduced into the family religion. A social message has been given here about these things. Which is very important and good.

Because even today, such a thing, even after so much development today, even in the year 2025, these things are still seen in villages. If you go to a remote village, you can see child marriage, early marriage at a young age, these things. So, you can relate. And the message of the thing is good. The fact that it raises a social issue is quite good.

Acting and Performance

Everyone's performance here is very good. I'll say Nusrat. Here, Nusrat's little girl, I'll say. Soha Ali Khan is there, I'll say. Everyone has performed well. Especially Nusrat's little girl, that girl has performed outstandingly. Because the character of that girl is being shown to be very strong. And she has a reason. And this movie is being made for that reason.

So, the strength that has come out in this girl's performance, the confidence that has come out, is outstanding. And along with that, in childhood, our minds are very clear. We don't have much ability to judge good or bad. So, the way this girl has brought that thing into her character is very good. The performance of the little girl is impeccable.

The other cast members who performed here are also good. Nusrat is good. Soha Ali Khan is also very good. And in such a film, the lighting work and BGM work need to be very good. And in this Chhorii 2, both those things come out very well.

Technical Perspects

Here, the maximum movie is not, but shooting in the dark. So, the lighting work in that darkness, I mean the torch light, the light of a hurricane, the flame of a lamp, the way the lighting work has been done with these things, is good. And the BGM here is quite good. The BGM uplifts the scenes. It helps in getting scared. The work of a BGM, then the BGM work there is also quite good.

If we talk about horror separately. Look, in a horror movie, what horror do we get, what fear do we get, if I tell you. Since it is a movie, if I divide this movie into the first half and the second half. The fear is there in the first half. The way it is shot in the dark, the way the jump scares are brought there, one after the other, it is nice to see them. But the horror works in the first half. I mean, for those who watch horror movies very regularly, it will work a little less. And for those who don't, it will work a lot more.

But the horror works. If you watch it alone at home, you will get goosebumps. You will be scared. Those places have been kept well. The horror portion is a little bit, but it works quite well here. And there is some camera work in this movie, which is extraordinary. Because the place where it was shot, the place is like a maze. So, it is very nice to see the way the camera work has been done in that small place, in that crowded place.

It is very nice to see the transformations from one scene to another. So, the camera work here will surprise you quite a lot in many places. Now let's come to the negative side. This was a fairly positive side.

Negative Aspects

Now the first negative side is that this movie, not this one, starts to dip in the second half. In the second half, the story becomes predictable. And then you know what will happen. And you don't need much interest to watch the story to know.

That's why the fear doesn't work in the second half. As I said, the fear in the first half was good. But in the second half, a creature is introduced. It looks like a human, but it's a creature type. When he is introduced, the fear is further reduced. Since the story is no longer moving forward. Since the story is moving in one place, it has become predictable. And then that creature is introduced. That's why the story is predictable, it's fun to watch. And what's happening with it, that fear is also reduced.

Humans, and that's why this movie dips in the second half. The writing of the story should have been better there. The horror portion should have been kept better. And both of those things will make you dip a little bit in the second half. The movie will drag. You will feel like, I know, now let's finish it.

And the climax of this movie. Look, when we review, we keep things in mind so thoroughly. That this-that was good in the first half. That this-that was good in the second half, or it wasn't good. But the general audience, who may not be watching the movie with so many things in mind, they are watching it for entertainment purposes only. After finishing this movie, when they go to the last and give a total verdict about the movie, they will say, okay, it's a good movie.

Now, a movie has such good camera work, such good performances, such a good story. There is such good messaging. Even after all these, I have to make the climax great. So that it leaves a mark on people's minds. Why, even after so many good things, will people go to the end and say, brother, this is a good movie. Because the way the movie dips in the second half when it gets to the end. And the climax cannot entertain you. The climax cannot leave a mark on people's minds.

That's why I thought, if the second half, the climax could have been made better, if the horror portion could have been kept, then I think, overall people would have liked the movie very much. But, for me, this is a one-time watch. A good movie, where you will get good performances, good subjects, good messages, good treatment. If you want to watch all this, this movie is a good movie.
