Saludos estimados Otakus de #TheAnimeRealm. Hace poco terminé de ver una serie bastante bizarra llamada El Verano en que Hikaru Murió. Y después de ver el último episodio de su primera temporada, solo puedo decir que tengo más dudas que respuestas y una opinión que darles al respecto.
Greetings, dear otakus of #TheAnimeRealm. I recently finished watching a rather bizarre series called The Summer Hikaru Died. And after watching the final episode of its first season, I can only say that I have more questions than answers, and I have no opinion to give you about it.

La serie es compleja. Decidí verla porque supuestamente era de horror y misterio, y así fue en los primeros episodios. Pero llegó un punto en que dio un extraño giro que no se termina de concretar como tema y en vez de aclarar las dudas al espectador, lo que hace el autor es generar más preguntas.

However, the series is complex. I decided to watch it because it was supposedly a horror and mystery series, and that's what it was for the first few episodes. But at one point, it took a strange turn that never fully developed the theme, and instead of clarifying the viewer's doubts, the author raised more questions.
La verdad tuve mis dudas para continuarla y terminarla. Al final creo que lo hice porque solo eran 12 episodios y ya iba por el 5.º, así que no me faltaba mucho. Soy de esas personas a las que les gusta terminar lo que empieza, sobre todo si son series o películas, pero cuando es muy mala, definitivamente me lo salto y no lo veo.
I was actually hesitant to continue and finish it. In the end, I think I did because there were only 12 episodes and I was already on the 5th, so I didn't have much left. I'm one of those people who likes to finish what I start, especially if it's a series or movie, but when it's really bad, I definitely skip it and don't watch it at all.
Hubo algo en esta serie que me capturó desde un inicio, pero tras ver ciertos episodios, la historia como que no terminaba de cuajar, es decir, como que tenía mucho con demasiado y se volvió tediosa. Esto porque lo que se desarrollaba tan bien como tema de horror psicológico pasó a segundo plano y empezaron a agregar cosas para "explicar" otros temas sin llegar a nada, lo que me hizo sentir que perdía mi tiempo al verla.
There was something about this series that captivated me from the start, but after watching a few episodes, the story didn't seem to quite gel. It felt like it was too much, and it became tedious. This is because what was so well developed as a psychological horror theme faded into the background, and they started adding things to "explain" other themes without really achieving anything, which made me feel like I was wasting my time watching it.
No sé, el tema de la escuela, llevar una vida normal como si no pasara nada después de una desaparición y que esa persona regresara así sin dar explicaciones de nada y todos llevaran una vida aburridamente normal sin notar cambios evidentes en esta cosa que regresó, para mí fue lo más fastidioso de la serie.
I don't know, the school thing, living a normal life as if nothing had happened after a disappearance, and that person coming back like that without any explanation, and everyone living a boringly normal life without noticing any obvious changes in this thing that came back, for me, it was the most annoying thing about the series.
¿Y su final? Desde mi humilde opinión, pudo terminar mejor. ¿Cómo puedes elegir quedarte en una relación tan tóxica donde sabes que la otra persona puede ser capaz de asesinarte cuando le venga en gana? No, eso no lo acepto. Así de deprimido debes estar para sentirte tan patético que necesites el afecto de lo que se te aparezca en frente. Ese es el mensaje que te deja la serie con el cierre de su primera temporada.
And its ending? In my humble opinion, it could have ended better. How can you choose to stay in such a toxic relationship where you know the other person is capable of murdering you whenever they want? No, I don't accept that. That's how depressed you must be to feel so pathetic that you need the affection of whatever appears in front of you. That's the message the series leaves you with at the end of its first season.
Además de que con estas nuevas tendencias de descripción de género, donde no quieren admitir que los personajes son homosexuales o simplemente amigos. ¡Por favor! Yo soy partidaria y fiel defensora de que sólo existen 2 generos, femenino y masculino, si te gustan los hombres eres Gay y si te gustan las mujeres eres Lesbiana y nada malo hay con eso.
Plus, with these new trends in gender depiction, they don't want to admit that characters are gay or just friends. Please! I'm a firm believer and staunch defender that there are only two genders: female and male. If you like men, you're gay, and if you like women, you're lesbian, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Cada quien con sus gustos y decisiones, pero que tarden tanto en concretar una relación dentro de un anime que a leguas se ve que son dos hombres enamorados, no me vas a venir a caer a la mente de que estos dos personajes no tienen algo más que solo una relación de amistad.
To each their own, but the fact that it takes so long for a relationship to materialize in an anime where it's obvious they're two men in love doesn't make it obvious to me that these two characters don't have anything more than just a friendship.
Y hago hincapié en este tema porque el autor del manga no quiere catalogarlos como homosexuales, sino como queer. O sea, WTF? Esto me molestó muchísimo y su final más todavía.
And I emphasize this point because the manga's author doesn't want to categorize them as homosexual, but rather as queer. I mean, WTF? This bothered me a lot, and the ending even more so.
Todo gira en torno a estos dos personajes. Uno no se sabe aún lo que es realmente y el otro es un deprimido empedernido que tiene crisis existenciales a diario.
Everything revolves around these two characters. One still doesn't know what he really is, and the other is a hopelessly depressed man who has existential crises every day.
Para ser la primera temporada, solo los primeros capítulos fueron los que me gustaron, ya pasado el quinto episodio, la serie se fue a pique, para mí perdió sentido, dejaron de darle misterio y horror, además de quitarle el toque psicológico extraño que tenía. Yo quería ver más de la parte malvada de la entidad, no una cosa que intenta ser humana.
For a first season, I only liked the first few episodes. After the fifth episode, the series fell apart. It lost its meaning for me. They lost the mystery and horror, and they also stripped away the strange psychological touch it had. I wanted to see more of the evil side of the entity, not something trying to be human.
No tenía idea de que una segunda temporada ya está confirmada y a pesar de todo lo malo que hizo que no me gustara, la veré porque necesito respuestas, pero les advierto que esta serie no es para todo el mundo. Tiene cosas muy bizarras y nada concluyente, lo que significa que tiene muchos huecos y no se explica nada. Optan por dejar todo en el aire. De mi parte le doy 3 estrellas de 5.
I had no idea a second season was already confirmed, and despite all the bad things that made me dislike it, I'll watch it because I need answers. But I warn you, this series isn't for everyone. It has some very bizarre things and nothing conclusive, which means it has a lot of holes and nothing is explained. They choose to leave everything up in the air. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
