I had the pleasure of traveling for work to the Wonderful City, also known as Rio de Janeiro/RJ, Brazil. 😍

I arrived straight to a meeting of the A3P Network, a program I coordinate at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
It was great to see the "people from Rio" again, as I like to call them. It was a magnificent afternoon, we talked about the plans for the program, and partnership actions between various public institutions concerned with their socio-environmental responsibility actions.

After the meeting, I went back to my bnb and rested, because the day had been very busy.

I opened my room window and came across this scene:

Yes, these are someone's belongings: their mattress, the cart with which they collect recyclable material, their boxes and other things inside, clothes, etc.
Soon after, the owner arrived, and had a litter of puppies with him, in addition to the mother of the dogs...
This is Rio de Janeiro, my friends: "the best and worst of Brazil", as the song says. And this scene is very far from what Rio has to offer, God forbid I should know, let's focus on the wonders...

I managed to get a break the next morning, I woke up very early to see the sun rise on the beach, 5 in the morning I was already up, had coffee and was heading towards the sea.

On the way, I passed by the Museum of Modern Art, which was still closed and empty, look at this architecture, how magnificent:

Crossing the MAM, I arrived at Marina da Glória, the sun was rising on the horizon:

I stayed there for a good few minutes, appreciating the moment, and slowly followed my way to the sea...

I arrived at the beach very early, few people, but, as we will see, the rising sun on Flamengo beach gains an interesting movement.

On arrival, I saw a plane taking off from Santos Dumont airport, where I arrived and which is very close to Flamengo beach:

Looking at the region on Google Maps, you realize how special it is. You are at the entrance to Guanabara Bay, so the sea is calm, unlike beaches with the open sea, such as Ipanema and Copacabana.
As you will see in the photos, you can see Christ the Redeemer and Morro da Urca, framing the beautiful landscape.

In the still misty bay of the morning, the rowers appear: several boats of different sizes, 6, 4, 2, 1 person, run from one side to the other, tearing the serene sea like a lake:

Look at it there! My cell phone doesn't have a good camera to capture Christ the Redeemer in Zoom, but its presence is felt along the entire waterfront, we are under the blessings of Christ on Flamengo beach:

In the photo, we have common elements on Flamengo beach: the pigeons 😄, and the footvolley nets:

If Brazil is (still is?) considered the country of football, Rio de Janeiro is the "country of footvolley", a very demanding sport, usually played in pairs on each side of the net.
In the early morning, there are several nets stretched out, and footvolley schools give their classes there, to many, but many people indeed!

I completed the walk to the end of the beach, now it's time to go back and choose a spot to stop and enjoy.

On the way back, I saw that the swimming schools had entered into action, which mark space in the water for their classes, and they keep track of the activities in these stand up paddles, very cool!
I had already seen similar open water swimming classes in Copacabana, I even went into the sea with them once.

I moved away from the swimming lessons area, and sat down a little further on. At the same moment, these two tourists arrived, who spent a good time appreciating the view and talking in a language I couldn't understand:

While I was enjoying the beach, planes started arriving at Santos Dumont airport, they pass behind Morro da Urca and descend smoothly, tearing through the sky of the beach:

Soon after, the cleaning staff arrived, collecting what the previous group had already gathered. I also helped, collecting garbage from the sea, there is a post on Clean Planet about it.

I needed to go back to the bnb, because I had to work in the afternoon:

On the way back, I passed by the National Monument to the Dead of World War II:

The Museum of Modern Art was open, but I didn't have time to visit:

I even saw a group rehearsing a choreography, I thought it was beautiful:

To go back to the bnb, I crossed this walkway, which has a nice view of Beira Mar avenue:

I took a shower, had a quick lunch and went to the State Environment Conference of Rio de Janeiro, where I would follow the activities representing the Department of Environmental Education and Citizenship of the MMA:

The conference venue was also very close to Santos Dumont airport, at the Aeronautics Club, with a view of the inner part of Guanabara Bay.

Cidade Maravilhosa, coração do meu Brasil

Hei, @bucipuci , estava devendo esse post pro #aroundTheWorld, demorou, mas chegou! 😁

Tive o prazer de viajar a trabalho até a Cidade Maravilhosa, também conhecida como Rio de Janeiro/RJ, Brasil. 😍

Cheguei direto pruma reunião da Rede A3P, programa que coordeno no Ministério do Meio Ambiente e Mudança do Clima.
Foi muito bom rever o "povo do Rio", como gosto de chamá-los. Foi uma tarde magnífica, conversamos sobre os planos para o programa, e ações em parceria entre várias instituições públicas preocupadas com suas ações de responsabilidade socioambiental.

Depois da reunião, voltei pro meu bnb, e descansei, pq o dia tinha sido bem corrido.

Abri a janela do meu quarto e me deparo com esta cena:

Sim, são as coisas de alguém: seu colchão, o carrinho com o qual recolhe material reciclável, suas caixas e outras coisas dentro, roupa, etc.
Logo em seguida o dono chegou, e tinha uma ninhada de filhotes de cachorro com ele, além da mãe dos cachorros...
Este é o Rio de Janeiro, mes amigues: "o melhor e o pior do Brasil", como diz a música. E esta cena está muito distante do que o Rio tem a oferecer, Deus me livre de conhecer, vamos focar nas maravilhas...

Consegui uma folga no outro dia pela manhã, acordei bem cedo pra ver o sol nascer na praia, 5 da manhã já estava de pé, café tomado e indo em direção ao mar.

No caminho, cruzei pelo Museu de Arte Moderna, que ainda estava fechado e vazio, vejam essa arquitetura, que magnífica:

Cruzando o MAM, cheguei na Marina da Glória, o sol ia despontando no horizonte:

Fiquei por ali uns bons minutos, apreciando o momento, e lentamente segui meu caminho até o mar...

Cheguei na praia ainda bem cedo, poucas pessoas, mas, como veremos, o sol raiando a praia do Flamengo ganha um movimento interessante.

De chegada, vi um avião decolando do aeroporto Santos Dumont, por onde cheguei e que fica bem próximo à praia do Flamengo:

Olhando a região no Google Maps, você percebe como ela é especial. Você está na entrada da Baia da Guanabara, então o mar é tranquilo, ao contrário de praias com o mar aberto, como Ipanema e Copacabana.
Conforme você verá nas fotos, Dá pra ver o Cristo Redentor e o Morro da Urca, emoldurando a paisagem belíssima.

Na baia ainda enevoada da manhã, surgem os remadores: várias embarcações de tamanhos diferentes, 6, 4, 2, 1 pessoa, correm para um lado e para o outro, rasgando o mar sereno como um lago:

Olha ele ali! Meu celular não tem uma câmera boa pra pegar o Cristo Redentor no Zoom, mas sua presença é sentida ao longo de toda a orla, estamos sob as bençãos do Cristo na praia do Flamengo:

Se o Brasil é (ainda é?) considerado o país do futebol, o Rio de Janeiro é o "país do futevôlei", um esporte bem exigente, geralmente jogado em duplas em cada lado da rede.
No início da manhã, são várias redes estendidas, e escolas de futevolêi dão suas aulas ali, para muita, mas muita gente mesmo!

Completei a caminhada até o final da praia, agora é voltar e escolher um canto pra parar e curtir.

Na volta, vi que tinham entrado em ação as escolas de natação, que marcam espaço na água para suas turmas, e ficam acompanhando as atividades nesses stand um paddles, muito legal!
Eu já tinha visto turmas semelhantes de natação em mar aberto em Copacabana, cheguei a entrar no mar com eles uma vez.

Fui me distanciando da área das aula de natação, e sentei um tanto adiante. No mesmo instante chegaram esses dois turistas, que ficaram um bom tempo apreciando a vista e conversando numa língua que não consegui entender:

Enquanto eu curtia a praia, começaram a chegar aviões no aeroporto Santos Dumont, eles passar por trás do morro da Urca e descem suavemente, rasgando o céu da praia:

Logo mais chegou o pessoal da limpeza, recolhendo o que a turma anterior já tinha juntado. Também ajudei, recolhendo lixo do mar, tem post na Clean Planet sobre isso.

Eu precisa voltar pro bnb, que a tarde tinha que trabalhar:

Na volta, passei pelo Monumento Nacional aos Mortos da Segunda Guerra Mundial:

Tomei banho, almocei rápidão e fui pra Conferência Estadual de Meio Ambiente do Rio de Janeiro, onde eu iria acompanhar as atividade representando o Departamento de Educação Ambiental e Cidadania do MMA:

O local da conferência era bem perto do aeroporto Santos Dumont também, no Clube da Aeronáutica, com vista pra parte interna da baia da Guanabara.
Tirei essa foto com a ponte Rio-Niterói, outro ponto turístico do Rio de Janeiro.
