This morning I woke up to disturbing news on my phone!

During the morning, someone stabbed a man and then took him to hospital, left him in the parking lot and fled.
Unfortunately the man died.

This poor city of mine really seems adrift.

Just a few weeks ago they read in the newspaper that a boy at school, also here in Reggio and among other things in what is currently the most important high school, stabbed one of his classmates and then returned to class as if nothing had happened.

Of course, at least in this second episode, if it hadn't been for the professors and the carabinieri, the classmates would have "choked" the stabber with blows... As I see it, it's never right to respond to violence with more violence but, at least, these young people they had a movement of rebellion against the delinquent bully and stabber.

I repeat, it is wrong to respond to violence with more violence and just like the phrase in the title, which is from Gandhi, in the end an eye for an eye and the world will become blind!

Someone says that it is obvious that by reading a certain type of news in the newspaper and with all the violence that is seen on TV and in video games, young people maintain a certain behavior and carry out certain actions.

I would say, using a French term, obviously the fuck!

As a boy, when I read about a killer in the newspaper, I didn't try to emulate him!
As a budding Nerd, I played the first video games with the Sega Master System, such as the legendary Double Dragon, but it wasn't like I went around throwing punches left and right.

I therefore believe that justifications do not exist for either the young or the less young, violence is always to be condemned, no ifs or buts!

As I see it, a lot depends on the education I received, my Father and my Mother educated me in a certain way, I grew up against violence and against all types of mafias, believing in the values of honesty, justice and loyalty!
My parents in their educational intent were supported by scouting which led me in the direction that led me to be who I am today.

Unfortunately, this was not the case for everyone!

Many in my city see the 'Ndrangheta as something that is, if not right, not even too wrong; certainly compared to the State and institutions they see it as the lesser evil.
Their children grow up listening to their fathers' bullshit and following their examples and therefore in the average Reggio area the mafia mentality is strongly rooted.

Be careful, when we talk about mafia mentality we also mean the guy who skips the queue at the post office, the brawler who argues in any situation and who thinks he's always right simply because: "You don't know who I am!".

I usually reply to these people: "I don't know and I don't even give a damn!", then I go away leaving them the reason that, as we all know, belongs only to stupid people and cuckolds, lol!

Violence is part of this mafia mentality, especially unpunished violence; here beyond Education, the institution that should guarantee respect for laws and penalties also comes into play... Unfortunately in this absurd beautiful country, from north to south, if you steal a chicken you risk life imprisonment, if you kill a person , between parole, good behavior and various discounts, after a few years you're out.

In this post of mine I talk about my city but it must be admitted that the entire country is not in a better situation... Of course, in bad times, incivility and misfortunes, Calabria and Reggio Calabria mainly, are the worst expression of the worse than Italy.

How can we get out of this?

I certainly believe, as I said at the beginning of the post, that family education is fundamental; it is very important that the state must monitor and condemn those who are guilty of certain crimes (because violence is always a crime).
I also believe that indignation and condemnation on the part of civil society has an equally important role. Reacting by saying no and not accepting certain behaviors will perhaps, over time, lead to them disappearing.

Improving things will certainly be a very long process, creating and spreading culture and education is something that requires time, effort and dedication but, in my way of thinking, it is something that can be done!

Change is possible, we can evolve and improve and I couldn't think differently otherwise I would have to surrender to the extinction of our species.

Stamattina mi sono svegliato con una inquietante notizia sul telefono!

Qualcuno, sempre nell'arco della mattinata, ha accoltellato un uomo per poi portarlo in ospedale lasciarlo nel parcheggio e fuggire.
Purtroppo l'uomo è morto.

Questa mia povera città sembra davvero alla deriva.

Proprio qualche settimana fa leggevano sul giornale che un ragazzo a scuola, sempre qui a Reggio e tra l'altro in quello che attualmente è il liceo più importante, ha accoltellato un suo compagno per poi tornare in classe come nulla fosse.

Certo, quantomeno in questo secondo episodio i compagni se non fosse stato per professori e carabinieri avrebbero "abboffato" di mazzate l'accoltellatore... Per come la vedo io non è mai giusto rispondere alla violenza con altra violenza ma, quantomeno, questi giovani hanno avuto un moto di ribellione nei confronti del delinquente bullo e accoltellatore.

Ribadisco, è sbagliato rispondere alla violenza con altra violenza e proprio come la frase nel titolo, che è di Gandhi, alla fine occhio per occhio e il Mondo diverrà cieco!

Qualcuno dice che è ovvio che leggendo un determinato tipo di notizie sul giornale e con tutta la violenza che si vede in TV e nei videogiochi poi i giovani mantengano un determinato comportamento e compiano certe azioni.

A me verrebbe da dire, usando un francesismo, ovvio il cazzo!

Io da ragazzo non è che leggendo di un killer sul giornale provassi a emularlo!
Da buon Nerd in erba giocavo ai primi videogiochi col Sega Master System, come per esempio il mitico Double Dragon, ma non è che me ne andassi in giro a tirare pugni a destra e a manca.

Credo quindi che le giustificazioni non esistano né per i giovani né per i meno giovani, la violenza è sempre da condannare, senza se e senza ma!

Per come la vedo io molto dipende dell'educazione ricevuta, mio Padre è mia Madre mi hanno educato in un certo modo, sono cresciuto contro la violenza e contro tutti i tipi di mafie, credendo nei valori di onestà, giustizia e lealtà!
I miei genitori nel loro intento educativo si sono fatti affiancare dallo scoutismo che mi ha condotto nella direzione che mi ha portato a essere quello che sono oggi.

Non per tutti però è stato così, purtroppo!

In tanti nella mia città vedono la 'ndrangheta come una cosa, se non giusta, nemmeno troppo sbagliata; sicuramente rispetto a Stato e istituzioni la vedono come il male minore.
I loro figli crescono sentendo le cazzate dei padri e seguendo i loro esempi e quindi nel reggino medio la mentalità mafiosa è fortemente radicata.

Attenzione, quando si parla di mentalità mafiosa si intende anche il tipo che salta la fila alla posta, il tizio attaccabrighe che in qualsiasi situazione litiga e che pensa di avere sempre ragione semplicemente perché: "Tu non sai chi sono io!".

Io solitamente a questo persone rispondo:"Non lo so e manco me ne fotte!", poi me ne vado lasciando loro la ragione che tanto si sa, appartiene solo agli stupidi e ai cornuti, lol!

La violenza fa parte di questa mentalità mafiosa, specialmente le violenze impunite; qui oltre L'educazione entra in gioco anche l'istituzione che dovrebbe garantire il rispetto delle leggi e delle pene... Purtroppo in questo assurdo bel paese, da nord a sud, se rubi una gallina rischi l'ergastolo, se ammazzi una persona, tra condizionale, buona condotta e sconti vari dopo qualche anno sei fuori.

In questo mio post parlo della mia città però bisogna ammettere che l'intero Paese non è che sia messo meglio... Certo, nel male, nell'inciviltà e nelle disgrazie, la Calabria e Reggio Calabria principalmente, sono l'espressione peggiore del peggio dell'Italia.

Come si può uscire da questo?

Credo sicuramente, come dicevo anche a inizio post, che L'educazione familiare sia fondamentale; è molto importante lo stato che deve vigilare e condannare chi si rende colpevole di determinati reati (perché la violenza è sempre un reato).
Credo poi che abbia un ruolo altrettanto importante l'indignazione e la condanna da parte della società civile, reagire dicendo no e non accettando determinati comportamenti forse, col tempo, porterà a farli scomparire.

Migliorare le cose sarà sicuramente un processo molto lungo, creare e diffondere cultura ed educazione è qualcosa che richiede tempo, fatica e abnegazione ma, a mio modo di pensare, è qualcosa che si può fare!

Il cambiamento è possibile, possiamo evolverci e migliorare e non potrei pensarla diversamente altrimenti dovrei arrendermi all'estinzione della nostra specie.
