Trust; A Building Block For Lasting Relationship

I personally think trust is the foundation of any successful relationship. For any kind of relationship to thrive and flourish, trust must be built in either words, actions, or intentions.

Trust is very important in any kind of relationship because it fosters communication. I think when there's trust in a relationship, it makes people become open with their partners; they become vulnerable and can discuss anything and everything with them with full confidence.

Trust can also create a sense of security; it makes one feel safe knowing fully well that they can always rely on their partners and that they can also get their support.

Why would you stop trusting someone?

There are many reasons why I would stop trusting someone. When someone lies to me or betrays me, I would stop trusting them.

Sometime this year, one of my close friends lied and betrayed me. We used to do business together until I fell sick and couldn't do some stuff together, and I asked him to help me out, and he cheated me. When I confronted him, he lied about the whole situation. Even before this whole situation, I had observed how he had lied about so many businesses we did together, but I turned a blind eye to it.

That was how I ended a friendship of almost 14 years.

Do you think there is a way you could trust someone again who lost your trust?

It's possible to rebuild a broken trust, but it would take a lot of effort from the person that broke the trust to rebuild it. The person has to first acknowledge their wrongs, take responsibility for them, and sincerely apologize and should not think that because they have apologized, things would go back to normal.

Trust takes time and effort, so they have to demonstrate genuine and sincere behavior to show they have changed.
