FNP to only characters is a lil 😑 for me. You can only use that once the bodyguard unit is wiped out and then is it still a unit with 2 characters?🤔

Actually no. This is the same as some of the "Advanced Bodyguards" you get in other armies.
Ogryn Bodyguard
Vitrix Honourguard
Etc
The main leader gets a FNP against Precision attacks.
