One argument against trusting the proles to vote is that they are easily swayed, which is probably true.
Democracy is only as good as the information that the voters have.
I believe that, in the US, if someone makes it to a national election, they cannot be trusted, so I don't bother to vote. If we stop feeding them with our attention, they will eventually cease to exist.
That said, I hope your election brings good things.

Quite so. We are well aware that all candidates represent various factions within the system... There's a lot of talk who's backed by which secret service... and we have many of them. We hope the faction that wants to be on good terms with the US and stop the war in Ukraine wins.
The same thing happened in 1989, when one faction turned against Ceausescu and orchestrated his downfall.
I would not be surprised to learn that the US is complicit in every government's downfall, especially if that government opposes the US in any way, however small. All countries probably have resources we want.
