Consistency is key I agree with you, most times we force the learning process and end up abandoning our goal to become professionals in that field of music. It's very important to dedicate yourself in every process of learning though it might get a bit frustrating sometimes but let your passion strengthen you.

I think one major problem some drummers have is these quick to know syndrome.
Even if the growth is slow with consistency there will be changes.
