Hello everyone, you are welcome to my blog and the @hive-reachout community, a community set to promote humanity through charitable donations and advertising Hive, Onboarding and Nuturing Newbies On Hive..

A week ago we made out plans and visited the orphanage home in the heart of Jos city, Plateau State Nigeria. I was aware right from the onset of the plans for our CDS group to go for that passionate walk. The president of the group, Amegwa who happens to be my friend on Whatsapp, shared the idea with me after viewing my WhatsApp status on the recent Charity walk we did in my community.

Since I find joy in reaching out to people also, I quickly bought the idea and encouraged him to push it more further.
One thing about giving that I'll continue to say is "It's not by how much you have, if you're willing to give, you will, not because you have so much but because you know what it means not to have any at all..!"

The preparation was a glorious one because we had allot of hands on deck that made sure the event came to reality. We bought detergents, food items, sanitary pads, contributed clothes and other items.

We observed the national anthem and the NYSC anthem before any other program. Since we are the Band CDS group of the Jos, Plateau state NYSC branch, we brought our drums and instruments to play the anthems and also play some music at the course of the events.

After the anthems, we did a little orientation to the kids, how to make carrier choices for themselves and where to channel their energy more as kids of their level. We also told them who we are in details and our reasons for visiting them. We had speakers from amongst us for each session and it was an awesome experience all through the mini seminar.

After the seminar, We rendered community development services to them (CDS), some persons helped with cutting their hairs. Ladies also exhibited their potentials, we had ladies who can cut hair and so they helped with the large number of kids on ground to barb their hair.

We also decided to engage the children in some activities to make their day a joyful one before presenting the items we brought for them.

It wasn't just about giving material gifts to them but we were concerned about transmitting joy in those children hearts and faces of which we are glad that it did happen as expected. We played music with some of the kids were we actively involved them in what we were doing.

Some of them tried on the drums, it seems they've got some little knowledge of the drums somewhere. I was fully active in the music section also since I'm a trumpeter and I play very well for the band.

While some of us are playing music, some were at the other side playing sports, @daverick was one of the active players in the volleyball court.

I love volleyball but couldn't participate at the beginning because I was playing a crucial part in the music aspect. It was all about division of roles so as to achieve the goals and aims of the program. If you look at the pictures closely, you'll find the kids in the volleyball court too, we ensured the children participated in all the games we played that day.

Approaching the end of the program that day, we did the presentation of gifts and decided to take some memorable shots.

As you can see we had a allot of kids in "The House of Recab Orphanage Home" but we are glad that we all had a good time with virtually all of them and this will of course be a routine, whenever we have the little opportunity we'll sure do this again and again..

We received prayers from the children and their leaders then we all departed to our various homes.

It was indeed a joyful moments for all of us..

It was indeed a joyful moment bro. It was one of the best times I had since being in this town. Watching the joy on their faces and seeing how much of the potential they possess, it overwhelmed me that we were able to come show them this love and reassuring hope.
Truly, it's not by how much you have that you give but even with the little you have you can give if you're willing because you know the value and the impact. Someone said "it is not the rich that give but the kind". I totally agree, much more more for the experience of this outreach. This is something I'll love to do again, anytime.

Playing volleyball after a very long time was wonderful for me that day. It was all a memorable event.

That's amazing. Making such an impact on the young. They will look upon you all as a role model.

They will remember and appreciate your contribution, I bet.
