My Visit To Jos Wild Life Park

My Visit To Jos Wild Life Park

Hello everyone, welcome to my blog. This is a brief highlight of my adventure to the WILD LIFE PARK Jos, Plateau State.

It was indeed a memorable day for me and the whole bandsmen from the NYSC Marshal Band Jos, Plateau State.

On reaching the park the first beautiful thing I saw was the sculpture of an elephant well constructed and positioned at a very catchy area of Park.

I took several shots of the sculpture because I find it amazing and loving, it was a very good idea to have that in front of the whole park as it signifies what the entire park stands for.

Not too far I noticed some amazing wall arts by the entrance of the park, different wild animals designed creatively on the wall.

Before we went further to see the animals in the Park, we stopped by at a corner and held our CDS (Community Development Service) which was indeed a remarkable one. I love the spot we choose for the event, it was decorated with nice long trees that provides a befitting shade from the scorching sun.

We all went into our various sections to rehearse the songs before coming together to harmonize everything.

I was privileged to lead my section (winds section) in this exercise and it was indeed a success without glitches.

We ended the band rehearsals with an intense music that ushered us into the main buildings where the animals were kept.

When we approached the area, we stopped playing drums because the animals were making some strange noises, it seemed it was out of fright from the unfamiliar sound they've not heard before in their surrounding.

We saw the monkeys, there were many of them but I took just few shots of the ones I could.

From there we went to see the elephant.

Sincerely I wasn't cool with how the elephant was looking. The elephant was looking very tired and stressed, it was as if it was malnourished or something, at the same time it was looking like the elephant is a very old and unhealthy.

IMG_20250608_081748.jpg

The whole thing got me thinking, I feel it will be nice if some of these animals most specially the aged ones, are set free or taken back to the bush where they were taken from, to once again reunite with their kinds, it'll probably make them feel better.?

IMG_20250608_081819.jpg

It's the same with we humans right, we can't live long, hale and hearty in an environment that isn't ours and not welcoming, deprived from seeing families and eating the appropriate meals that enhances our well-being and growth, we'll definitely get depressed, malnourished and eventually pass out! I don't know for animals though but I still do think they can feel as well.

Our next point of visitation was to the den of the king of the jungle..lol

IMG_20250608_082340.jpg

The lion wasn't paying attention to what was happening around, it seemed to be focused on something all of us around there can't relate, full of pride and energy looking so serious and ready for any available prey.. Allot of thoughts were flashing in my head that I can't tell, I was among the first people to live that arena were the lion was... lol

The next place we went was the ostrich ranches.

IMG_20250608_081918.jpg

they seemed to be more healthy than some of the previous animals we saw. There was a tag on their cage that explains almost everything about them there in the park.

IMG_20250608_102126.jpg

Not far from the ostrich ranch was the the beautiful peacock that refused to spread her feathers so we can picture her beautiful nature... lol

IMG_20250608_103107.jpg

I played some little music for her with the trumpet but that wasn't still enough I guess. Probably there was a better way to do that? I don't know..

The next animal we visited was the ancient tortoise.

Tortoise have a very long lifespan because their years alone in the wild life park is something to imagine. Some tortoise lived more than 150-300 years and more. Of course it's very great to see some wild animals that existed even before my father's father came to existence🙂

Here are the donkeys (Equs Asinus).

IMG_20250608_082443.jpg

Don't know if we have wild donkeys but for sure I know most of them are kept for domestic use at home. There were many of them there, I just captured few.

One of the animals that seemed a bit odd from the wild birds was the Marabou Stork.

IMG_20250608_082244.jpg

It had something sack-like around the neck region with a very ugly face. I learnt that it belonged to the wading family of birds.

The last animal before the exit gate was the geese.

IMG_20250608_083020.jpg

I love how tender they were looking, they seemed not to be dangerous but I heard they can be aggressive especially when they feel threatened or disturbed.

IMG_20250608_082914.jpg

We played some cool music on our way out through the long lonely road, the exit way seemed a bit far but at the end, the adventure ended in lots of excitement.

Greetings 🤗 a huge place with a lot of beauty. Gosh, I really thought some animals were an artistic statue, before I saw what yes they were real. Nice tour.

Thank you very much for visiting @carminasalazarte
Of course most animals we see on the internet and other places actually exist and the best place to find that out is the zoo or wildlife park...
