Childhood Nostalgic Reflections

Welcome to my blog, is a beautiful weekend from my end and so I thought about sharing this piece with you all..

Few weeks ago I shared a post about My Holiday Experience which left me with so much pleasant memories to remember and so today's post is the other fun part of my break experience I want to share with you guys. Do you remember some of your childhood experiences?

Right from the scene when we were helping my aunt to prepare her chickens, we had an encounter that made me reflect childhood days and our trouble-free lifestyle then.

It's more like a tradition, all the children around whenever chicken is prepared at home will feast on the chicken intestines, I don't know for other region but it's more like a culture amongst the people in my country. It does looks like a crime even, to deprive the kids of the chicken intestines specially if they longing to have it, it's more like they're the real owners of that portion of the chicken. So the intestines was ready for consumption and as the eldest among the children present there, I shared it into portions and distributed it.

Where I became unhappy was when I distributed to everybody their portion and my cousin kid sister Grace, (Aunt Lydia's second child) refused to collect her portion, I was amazed and wanted to know why, I understand it's been awhile we gathered like this and she might be feeling scared to collect it from me since we haven't been that close. You know our African parents are doing a good job recently by teaching their children not to accept anything from strangers, but in this case I'm not a stranger in the house, so what could be the reason why Grace doesn't want to accept her portion from me? I politely told Grace to come and collect her portion, her mum decided to come in that we should forget about Grace and just eat everything since the portions are small as if it ever used to be plenty before..

I wasn't happy that her mum was supporting Grace's action not to partake in this little celebration we were doing. I feel she was supposed to encourage Grace to collect her portion especially that I insisted her to regardless of how small it was, but she ended up discouraging her the more. I really don't know what message she was trying to pass across but she did actually..

My mind wasn't attached to all that was going on in the house again, I was eager to leave and go back home so I can go to church for rehearsals with the kids in my church. After staying there for some time, together with my kid brother we waved them good bye and left.

I was getting late already so I ran to church to meet up with the boys.

It's been awhile I teach them music and I've missed them so much. The Boy's Brigade stands as my origin of learning music and I'll forever be grateful for being part of the Sir. William S. Smith family.

I quickly teach the boys some displays and tried to replay some cool memories we've had with them. It's funny how life has happened to us, so many responsibilities came along with adulthood and made us neglect those little things we do that normally makes us happy.

I sometimes try to forcefully engage myself in some of these activities that creates some few hours excitement and joy helping me to forget the too many complications of life of an adult in a bit. It was indeed a nostalgic reflections for me.

That evening ended with the church band rehearsals, we practice songs we will play for Easter Sunday in celebration of the birth of our Lord and personal Savior Jesus Christ.

The next morning which was Easter Sunday came forth with so much blessings, I don't know how it happened but almost all the band dressed up on their whites in this joyful celebration thou, it's normal routine the white dresses are worn on Easter celebration day which signifies purity and peace, I'm happy together with my people we all pulled up as expected.

Service went well and we took beautiful pictures in remembrance of this great day.
We took pictures with the rest of the band before everyone departed to their houses.

That wasn't all about my Easter celebration guys.

Another nostalgic reflection was how we go for mango hunt, I did missed mangoes because where I am, I don't even see mangoes to take talk more to go haunting for them, probably because I didn't search deeply but my home, mangoes are everywhere it's just for you to take a walk and find some for yourself..

I decided to do something funny with the mangos I got, of course it's not all the time you will be forever serious, I sometimes let that hidden childhood potentials showcase themselves and this is just one of it guys😀

I've watched pictures of this same stuff, the stages people lick their mangoes and stop. I decided to recreate them myself because it is something we did very well when we were much younger.

The pictures above are the various ways people lick mangos and stop. What stage do you stop licking your own mango..?😉

For me I make sure I reach the inedible fibrous string part, I make sure I take everything lol..

This is mine😀😀

Easter break celebration was well spent with family and well wishers, I ate allot and enjoyed the moment.

Easter break ended and it was time to return back to place of work, the holidays seemed so short but I am forever happy for the few memories created during the short break right from the family visitations and the childhood nostalgic reflections..

Childhood was actually fun unlike now, responsibilities chocked everywhere and we have less time to pay attention to little things that can create momentary joy to us..

Interesting memories shared here. Especially the one with the children brigade.
Hopefully next holiday you get to spent more time with them.
