Engagement 255 Topic 2 Honesty first for effective communication
Good weekend to everyone in the community, for this day @galenkp brought important topics to reflect and grow.
I want to address topic two
Which do you feel is more important? Rank all of the following from most to least important and explain why. Manners, communication skills, relationship building, honesty, generosity and humility.
I think we will all agree to put Honesty in the first point, you cannot establish effective communication if you do not deal with the truth, because when you speak the truth you inspire trust, credibility and respect.
Secondly, we must have communication skills, to transmit our points of view in a clear, understandable way, to avoid misunderstandings and misunderstandings, it is also important to listen to the other, to be empathetic and patient, to reach agreements and solve conflicts.
These two elements are key to achieve good communication, because in many occasions, although we are being transparent in our statements, if we are not able to formulate them in an understandable way for the other person, the conversation does not flow.
From this basis, since the rest of the elements are included, manners are a very good accompaniment for the construction of agreements and understanding, they allow relationships to develop and consolidate.
I believe that generosity and humility are traits inherent to each person and that they will undoubtedly contribute to solid and deep communication and relationships. These last two elements make us better people and facilitate our relationships.
It is not the same to deal with a person who is haughty and thinks he knows everything and is always right than to deal and discuss with humble people.
Here I make a call to our conscience, because if we know how to listen and are humble, we will know to what extent we are right or what we need to change to achieve a communication that leads to the promotion of relationships.
And of course among the communication skills is being empathetic, patient, listening, being assertive etc., if we are generous, then we are going to be able to make our interlocutor feel comfortable and valued, give and receive ideas with respect and appreciation.
