Hello friends, I hope your gardens are healthy and beautiful, winter is already beginning here in Venezuela, these days it has been raining in the east of the country, the truth is that the rains arrived earlier than expected to the farm, although I think it was my mistake for not being aware of the times, I say this because I usually plow the land before the rains start, to have it ready to plant corn, so I will do that plowing for next week, because I will spend this week here at my house in Puerto la Cruz, but this does not mean that I will be far from the plants, because when I am here, I also dedicate some time to my garden plants, both in the gardens and in the plants that I have on the balcony.

Well friends, two weeks ago I was looking at the ornamental plants that surround the building where I live and it occurred to me to germinate a piece of stem of the plant known as the Barbary Rose or Queen's Flower (Nerium olander) although in some regions it is known as "Laurel de Flor", but I prefer to call it the "queen's flower", the good thing about this plant is that apart from its flowers being very pretty, it also has them throughout the year, that is why it is widely used in gardens, for this reason I also want to have it in my country house, because ornamental plants, although they do not produce fruits, are necessary because they help to create pleasant environments.

I'm telling you, this morning I went to check the stem I rooted two weeks ago in the bottle and noticed it already had numerous roots and leaves, so the germination of the cutting was a complete success. So today I decided to cut some more stems to root them and plant several plants near my country house.

Look how roots sprouted on the stem I rooted two weeks ago:

So, this plant propagates by cuttings, which are placed in containers with water. After two weeks, the stems begin to sprout roots. Note that although this plant produces bracts with seeds, it reproduces not through seeds, but through cuttings.

Cutting the stems:

Once the branches are cut, we remove some leaves, making sure the branch isn't too long; 25 centimeters is enough.

Placing the stems in a container with water:

Now we place the stem in a container with water. In this case, I'll place them in a bottle, leaving it there until roots sprout, and then I'll plant them in a pot or directly in the ground, because their roots adapt easily to the soil.

Well friends, let me tell you that if you see one of these plants and would like to have it in your garden, just cut a piece of its stem and put it in a container with water and you will see that in less than 20 days you will be able to transplant it, the "queen flower" plant is a plant that grows quickly, in less than 3 months you will be able to see its flowers. I also want to tell you that this method of reproduction by cuttings also works for other ornamental plants such as roses with thorns, Ixoras plants and many more. I consider that this method of reproduction is much safer than placing the stems directly in the ground.

I hope you put this propagation method into practice. This method can be applied not only to "Queen's Flower" plants, but also to other ornamental plants such as roses with thorny stems. Best regards, may God bless you.

They are really beautiful. The germination rate is high. More power to your elbow
