Participando en el ensayo de las Misas de Aguinaldos

Hola, comunidad, por diversos motivos hace mucho tiempo que no he grabado ni participado en Hive. Pero llega la Navidad, siempre bella, siempre mágica, siempre milagrosa, así que desempolvé mi tamborcito y mi platillo para apoyar el ensayo de las Misas de Aguinaldo.

Hello everyone, for various reasons it's been a long time since I've recorded or participated in Hive. But Christmas is coming, always beautiful, always magical, always miraculous, so I dusted off my little drum and cymbal to help with the rehearsal of the Christmas Masses.

Son nueve Misas - la Novena al Niño Jesús - en las cuales , a pesar de estar aún en tiempo de adviento, tenemos la licencia de que los cantos de la Misa sean navideños.

There are nine Masses - the Novena to the Child Jesus - in which, despite still being in Advent, we have permission for the Mass songs to be Christmas-themed.

Fué muy grato participar con la música más linda del año, con es mezcla de alegría por los que están y nostalgia por los que se han ido... a los brazos del Padre o a cualquier otro país del mundo.

It was a great pleasure to participate with the most beautiful music of the year, with that mixture of joy for those who are here and nostalgia for those who have gone... to the arms of the Father or to any other country in the world.

En esta oportunidad el canto es el "abre boca" de todos los cantos navideños:
"Prendan la luz que es diciembre
son là doce, abran la puerta, todo se despierta con la Navidad"

This time, the song is the "appetizer" to all the Christmas carols:
"Turn on the lights, it's December
it's midnight, open the door, everything awakens with Christmas"

Y es que este es uno de esos aguinaldos con los que se solía dar serenatas de cada en casa en las noches decembrinas. Está hermosa tradición la estamos rescatando.

This is one of those Christmas gifts that were traditionally used to serenade people at home on Christmas nights. We are reviving this beautiful tradition.

Las personas que tienen pesebres en sus casas solicitan en la iglesia que el padre vaya a bendecir el pesebre y la familia y allá vamos "en cambote", en grupo, en equipo, en comunidad - como les parezca mejor - y vamos intercalando cantos navideños entre las oraciones que reza el padre.

People who have nativity scenes in their homes request that the priest come to the church to bless the nativity scene and the family, and we go "en cambote", as a group, as a team, as a community - however they see fit - and we intersperse Christmas carols between the prayers that the priest says.

Se crea un ambiente grato dónde llegamos, es como si estuviéramos sembrando alegría. La Navidad ahora no es la de las comilonas en qué en cada casa por modesta que fuera se hacían hallacas, se compraba el pan de jamón, se elabora a la ensalada de gallina y siempre había "un palito" de whisky, ron vino, ponche crema o de "leche de burra (el ponche crema casero). Todo esto pertenece al recuerdo. Pero al menos tenemos los cantos tradicionales, los de siempre y la esperanza, que nunca nos ha abandonado por estar firmemente arraigada a la fé.

A pleasant atmosphere is created wherever we go; it's as if we're sowing joy. Christmas now isn't about the feasts where every house, no matter how modest, made hallacas, bought ham bread, prepared chicken salad, and there was always a shot of whiskey, rum, wine, eggnog, or homemade eggnog. All of that belongs to memory. But at least we have the traditional songs, the ones we've always known, and hope, which has never abandoned us because it's firmly rooted in faith.
