YOU ARE NOT LATE, YOU ARE A LATE BLOOMER

Hello beautiful people. Went back to reread an interesting book I was given a few years ago and I came to realize there were some parts of it I didn't really explore. On my second read through, the word PRECOCITY caught my attention.

PRECOCITY is a term used to describe a situation where an individual discovers and perfects a certain skill or ability early in life before his "mates".

While the rest of the kids begin to walk at age 1 another kid already started to walk at 6 months, while an average kid can read and write at age six to nine, another kid could read before age 5.

The book referred to those special kids as the geniuses. Then there are the kids who cannot walk till probably age 2 or 3, the kids who can't read and write till maybe age 10 to 14, these are the kids he refers to as the "late bloomers".
According to a research by David Galenson, an economist at the University of Chicago, some people are at their best or do their best earlier in their careers while others become really good as they advance in age.

The only difference between the genius and the late bloomer is TIME. That the genius was able to perfect a certain skill or ability before the late bloomer doesn't mean the genius will be better at it. The late bloomer can learn and later in life perfect that same skill and still be better at it than a genius.

You can arrive late but still be great.

Between the ages of 21 to 26, Picasso had already done enough art to be regarded as a legendary painter while his colleague Cézanne began to make his best paintings in his mid 60s.

People say "the earlier the better" about almost everything; a job, marriage or even a long dream of having a business. They also say the more time passes or the more you age the slimmer your chances.

While that line of thought might be true to an extent, on the other side of the coin, you are simply a late bloomer, coming late but coming really hard.

Don't give up or relent, keep doing it with the same hunger/passion you had when you started because when you finally arrive, your entrance would be a testimony of all the years of dedication and hardwork.

You just have to continue to learn and grow from the delays, the failures and the experiences- these are the advantages you will have over the genius.

You can be late but still be great.
