Cacela Velha Village - Algarve / Riding Portugal

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)

CACELA.jpg

We returned to Cacela at the end of the day because the little girl was truly enchanted by this place and didn't want to go back to the north without saying goodbye to the little lakes of Cacela.
Returning here left me with a mix of joy and sadness. I know at her age 3 weeks here seemed like an eternity and I was always looking forward to going back and seeing my friends. The truth is that twenty five years ago, the entire village was very peaceful. The people who came here for vacation were to go to the beach and rest.

There wasn't a huge variety of anything. I remember there were two or three cafes, two restaurants, a steakhouse and a souvenir shop where I bought my first spirit chaser. I really wanted it because it was all made of wood and handmade and today it hangs in our daughter's room. I remember my father's joy when we arrived here. The straw hat with a black band saying Algarve and that went with him everywhere. Almost in all photos the hat is present.

I remember these days fondly and I always thought that one day I would see our daughter walking along this sand hand in hand with her grandfather.
The village seems untouched by time. What we wanted was to photograph the sunset at the viewpoint and enjoy a snack at the Casa da Igreja "restaurant". It was not possible given the number of people. Casa da Igreja is not the typical restaurant, but a batch of tables placed next to the church. Everyone shares tables, inside there is a counter and a kitchen and what is served to us is taken directly from the Ria Formosa.

As it wasn't possible, we went down to the beach again to wet our feet and say goodbye to the Algarve. The little boats remained moored. On this day, it was possible to cross to the beach without needing their services. If you are curious, the ticket price is R$1.5 per person.
On the way up, I remembered that you could find chameleons in the vegetation! We were looking but unfortunately we didn't see any or they were very well camouflaged :-) The first time I found one I remember being very surprised and at the time thinking I wasn't seeing well...

And that's it, we're done here. I hope that next year we can come back and that it's not just for one day. If you visit the Algarve, be sure to visit this beautiful place. There are many more that I hope to see again, as the south of the country is much more than Albufeira, Portimão and Vilamoura :-)

I hope you enjoyed.
See you around.
Wishing you much peace and health
