Splinterlands - Blending - Proposed solution to the Chaos Legion and Reward Card overprint

Have you got too many Pesky Chaos Legion and a drawer full of Chaos Legion Reward cards? Fear not!

Go ahead and place them in a bucket of water (not literally you'd get a shock), let them soften into a paper mush and remodel them into something new and exciting.

NO! not an Anonymous Mask, silly...

Or strike a match (always be careful with matches) and sacrifice them on the Altar of Rebirth!

Two Become One

Take a pinch of Chaos Legion with a slice of Reward and mint a quirky new Monster.

Or, if you're feeling a little more kinky!

Three become One

Burn Baby Burn and find a world of exciting new MONSTERS!

Even the first Chaos Legion Reward set could be included to burn a host of those.

How could it work?

If Splinterlands design a new set of cards ...

You can mint from this set if you burn two cards pre-selected by Splinterlands. One BCX Reward Card and one BCX Chaos Legion card mints a 1 BCX card from the new set of cards.

If three cards are sacrificed (burned), an upgrade to a 1 BCX Rare card is minted from the newly designed set.

The ratios to be burned could be adjusted, for example, 2 BCX of each Reward and Chaos Legion card need to be sacrificed (burned) to receive a 1 BCX card from the new set.

Players may even be inclined to pay the Card Power of the sacrificed cards alongside the Card Power of the newly minted card in DEC as a further sacrifice to the Altar of Rebirth to mint their shiny new addition to their collection.

DEC Burn to appease the Whale gods:

Sacrifice:

Level 10 Common Chaos Legion card (400 BCX * 5 CP)
and
Level 10 Chaos Legion Edition 1 Reward Card (400 BCX * 5 CP)
and
Level 10 Chaos Legion Edition 2 Reward Card (400 BCX * 5 CP)
=
Level 8 new set Rare Card (115 BCX * 20 CP)

A total of (400 * 5) + (400 * 5) + (400 * 5) + (115 * 20) =

(2000) + (2000) + (2000) + (2300) = 8300 DEC Burned

If one thing is clear from the announcement of the Rebellion Reward cards, it has created a lot of excitement in the community.

What are the Pros

This will remove unwanted cards from circulation, creating card scarcity and increasing demand.

It will appease the players who want their bound reward cards unbound for free. Hell, players will queue to burn them if the new cards are good enough.

DEC could still get burned and players would have something to show for it, both Minnow and Whale alike would benefit. They would live in perfect harmony for a good 10 minutes.

What are the Cons

I don't know, I couldn't be arsed thinking about it, but I'm sure there will be a few suggestions :)

This would be an interesting DAO proposal, have the DAO pay for Splinterlands to design a set of cards that required the burning of CL cards to unlock or mint. Which edition or set of cards would the new set belong to?

I would say Rebellion.

The same offering could be made for Rebellion Reward cards in the future with a mini set belonging to the next Major set to be released.

This mechanism can be used going forward to merge cards from penultimate sets to create cards in the current set.

It would be a boon for Modern players as older cards about to be retired can be recycled to become relevant again.
