Wednesday Walk – A Morning in Bahçelievler/Cat City (Eng-Tr)

There are moments when I realize how valuable it is to dedicate even a small part of my day to myself before getting lost in the rush of life. This morning was one of those moments. I went to Bahçelievler with my brother—he had some work to do, and I chose to wander around the streets for a refreshing walk.

What I admire most about Bahçelievler is how animal-friendly it is. Right from the beginning, I noticed cat shelters, food bowls, and water stations on almost every corner. Seeing them made me feel at peace. The cats I encountered along the way seemed like the quiet yet charming residents of the district, softening the chaos of the city with their presence.

I strolled for about an hour, and the apartment entrances were still decorated with blooming flowers, holding onto the colors of spring. Walking among these vibrant blossoms in shades of orange, red, and yellow turned an ordinary morning into something special.

One of the highlights of my walk was passing by the monument dedicated to Galatasaray’s UEFA Cup victory in 2000. This place has become a popular meeting point in the district—people often say, “Let’s meet by the Cup.” It’s not just a landmark; it’s also a reminder of a shared pride that became part of the neighborhood’s identity.

When my brother finished his work, we parted ways. I headed to the metro, and the soft sunset lights combined with the sky’s pastel shades offered a poetic end to my short journey. By the time I arrived at work, I couldn’t resist taking a quick mirror selfie to capture the energy of the day. I had started the walk in my sneakers, but by the time I was at the office, I had slipped into my flats—yet the positive energy of the walk stayed with me all day long.

Today reminded me of a simple truth: even in the most ordinary streets of the city, beauty is waiting to be discovered. Cats, flowers, public art, and small encounters turn a walk into a refreshing memory for the soul. 🌿

Wednesday Walk – Bahçelievler’de Bir Sabah

Bazen günün telaşına kapılmadan önce, kendime ayırdığım küçük bir yürüyüş saatinin ne kadar kıymetli olduğunu fark ediyorum. Bu sabah da öyleydi. Kardeşimle birlikte Bahçelievler’e geldik; onun işi vardı, ben de sokaklarda yürümek için kendime güzel bir rota seçtim.

Bahçelievler’in en sevdiğim yanı, hayvan dostu bir ilçe olması. Daha ilk adımlarda karşıma çıkan kedi evleri, mama ve su kapları bana içimi ısıtan bir huzur verdi. Sokaklarda yürürken karşılaştığım kediler, sanki kentin sessiz ama en sevimli sakinleriydi. Her köşede onların varlığını hissetmek, şehrin telaşına rağmen insana dinginlik veriyor.

Bir saat boyunca sokakları dolaştım. Apartman girişlerindeki çiçekler hâlâ bahar tazeliğini taşıyordu. Turuncu, kırmızı ve sarı tonlarda açan çiçekler arasında yürümek, sıradan bir günü daha renkli hale getirdi.

Yürüyüşüm sırasında karşıma çıkan ilginç detaylardan biri de Galatasaray’ın 2000 yılında kazandığı UEFA Kupası’nı simgeleyen heykeldi. İlçede bilinen bir buluşma noktası olan bu heykelin önünden geçerken, aslında bir spor başarısının bir semtin kimliğine nasıl işlemiş olduğunu düşündüm. İnsanlar “Kupanın orada buluşalım” dediğinde, aslında sadece bir noktayı değil, ortak bir gururu da işaret ediyor.

Günün sonunda kardeşim işine gitti, ben ise metroyla yoluma devam ettim. Metro girişindeki gün batımı ışıkları, gökyüzündeki bulutlarla birleşince yolculuğuma hoş bir kapanış yaptı. İşe vardığımda aynada kendime hızlıca bir fotoğraf çekerek bu küçük anıyı ölümsüzleştirdim. Spor ayakkabılarımla çıktığım bu yolculuk, iş yerine vardığımda babetlerimle devam etti ama yürüyüşün kattığı enerji bütün gün yanımda kaldı.

Bugünün hatırası bana şunu gösterdi: Bazen şehrin en sıradan sokaklarında bile güzellikler saklı. Kediler, çiçekler, sanat eserleri ve anılarla dolu bir yürüyüş, sadece adımlarımızı değil, ruhumuzu da tazeliyor. 🌸
