My entry for the #monomad challenge: A small kitten, a warm lap, and a calm moment
Today I am here in the Black And White Community with my entry for the #monomad challenge. Life has been a little heavy lately, and yes, the crypto market is one of the reasons. When prices fall day after day, it can feel like the whole world is losing color. So I wanted to share a moment that gave me the opposite feeling. Something simple, real, and quietly hopeful.

I went out with my laptop because I wanted to work somewhere outside my usual routine. I love working in cafes, especially the ones that are inside big parks. There is something peaceful about hearing people walk by, birds in the trees, and the soft noise of the city staying far away. The cafe I chose is in a huge park, the kind of place where you can spend hours without getting bored. Even when you are busy, the view makes your mind breathe.

The weather surprised me. It felt like a summer day, and I do not think I am exaggerating. The sun was gentle, the air was warm, and everything looked calm. I decided to walk a little before sitting down to work. The funny part is that I was wearing heels. Not the best idea for a park, I know, but I still wanted to enjoy the day. I walked for about ten minutes, then I got tired, because heels and long park paths do not always agree with each other. I found a bench and sat down to rest.

While I was sitting there, an older woman and her grandchild came near me and also stopped close by. It felt very natural, like the park was giving all of us a small break at the same time. A few minutes later, the main character arrived: a tiny kitten. It walked around the bench like it was checking the area. It looked curious and brave, but also a little tired. Then it started searching for a warm place, and suddenly it climbed onto my lap.

The kitten stayed there like it belonged. It was very sweet, but I noticed something sad too. It was sneezing a lot. It sounded sick, and I felt sorry for it. I gently petted it and tried to comfort it. The grandchild wanted to pet the kitten too, but was a bit scared at first. I understood that feeling, because sometimes small animals are unpredictable, and kids can worry. I held the child’s hand and helped them touch the kitten softly. First there was fear, then a small smile, and then the child started petting the kitten with more confidence.

For a short time, we were three strangers sharing one quiet moment with a little animal. It was simple, but it felt healing. After a while, the woman and the child continued their walk, and I also had to move on. I took some photos, but I covered their faces because I do not have permission to show them. All photos in this post were taken by me, and they are part of this black and white story.

Crypto can fall, plans can change, and days can feel stressful. But sometimes a small kitten chooses your lap, and for a moment, everything becomes lighter.
