Are you ready to discover a new city?- Edirne/Turkey (eng-tr)
Hello everyone,
Let's visit Edirne city with me. It's a wonderful city in Turkey and I have been there last weekend. My friend and I had been planning for a weekend vacation for a long time. My friend was always talking about Edirne because she was studying at university there. We kept postponing this short vacation because we couldn't find the time, but last week we made plans for the weekend without thinking. I guess our dream was not coming true because we thought too much about the details :)

Hadi gelin Edirne'yi birlikte gezelim. Türkiye'deki bu harika şehre geçen haftasonu gittim. Arkadaşımla uzun süredir haftasonu tatili için plan yapıyorduk. Edirne'ye birlikte gideceğim arkadaşım orada üniversite okuduğu için sürekli oradan bahsediyordu. Müsait zaman bulamadığımız için bu kısa tatili sürekli erteledik. Ancak geçen hafta hiç düşünmeden haftasonu için plan yaptık. Ayrıntıları çok düşündüğümüz için hayalimiz gerçeğe dönüşmüyordu sanırım :)
After we decided, we bought a bus ticket. Then I started looking for a hotel. With the advice of a friend who knew Edirne, I found a hotel in the Karaağaç neighborhood. I called the hotel and made a reservation for two nights. From Istanbul to Edirne takes 3 hours. We arrived in Edirne around 9 pm. The two photos below are of our hotel garden. It is clear from this view that our vacation will be beautiful :)
Karar verdikten hemen sonra otobüs bileti aldık. Daha sonra da otel araştırmaya başladım. Edirne'yi bilen bir arkadaşımdan aldığım tavsiye ile Karaağaç semtinden bir otel buldum. Oteli aradım ve iki geceliğine rezervasyon yaptırdım. İstanbul-Edirne arası otobüsle 3 saat. Cuma günü iş çıkışından sonra yola çıktık ve saat akşam 9'a doğru Edirne'ye vardık. Aşağıdaki iki fotoğraf otelimizin bahçesine ait. Tatilimizin güzel geçeceği bu manzaradan belli :)
We checked into the hotel on Friday evening and woke up late on Saturday morning. There was no breakfast service in the hotel, so we got ready to have breakfast outside. We had breakfast in a wonderful place, the photos of which you can see below. The place where we had breakfast is on the banks of the famous Evros River. 480 kilometers long Evos River. It is located between Bulgaria and Turkey.
Otele cuma akşamı yerleştik. Cumartesi sabahı geç uyandık. Otelde kahvaltı hizmeti bulunmadığı için dışarda kahvaltı yapmak için hazırlandık. Aşağıda fotoğraflarını gördüğünüz muhteşem bir yerde kahvaltı yaptık. Kahvaltı yaptığımız yer meşhur Meriç nehrinin kıyısında. 480 kilometre uzunluğunda olan Meriç Nehri. Bulgaristan ile Türkiye sınırları arasında bulunur.

The street of Edirne. Edirne, the capital of the Ottoman Empire between 1363-1453, has many historical buildings on its streets. I will give detailed information about these buildings in another post.
Edirne sokakları. 1363-1453 arasında Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'nun başkenti olan Edirne'nin sokaklarında birçok tarihi yapı var. Bu yapılan hakkında ayrıntılı bilgileri başka bir paylaşımda vereceğim.
I also liked the cafes in Edirne. There are a lot of students and Bulgarian tourists here. That's why the service sector is developed.
Edirne'nin kafelerini de çok sevdim. Burada hem öğrenci hem de Bulgar turist sayısı çok fazla. Bu yüzden hizmet sektörü gelişmiş.
This is the best part of the Edirne. The most famous mosque in Edirne is the Selimiye Mosque. This mosque was built by the most famous architect of the period "Mimar Sinan". I will share detailed content about this mosque and other mosques soon.
Ve Edirne'nin en güzel tarafı. Edirne'nin en meşhur camisi Selimiye Camii. Bu cami dönemin en ünlü mimarı "Mimar Sinan" tarafından inşaa edilmiş. Bu cami ve diğer camilerle ilgili yakında ayrıntılı bir içerik paylaşacağım.
Edirne is also famous for its cookies. I wanted to buy gifts for my relatives and colleagues. I decided that the best choice for a gift would be cookies. When we entered the store, they offered us two kinds of cookies. I liked them both, but I bought two packages of what is known as Kavala cookies.
Edirne ayrıca kurabiyesi ile de meşhur bir şehir. Akrabalarıma ve iş arkadaşlarıma hediye almak istiyordum. Hediye için en doğru seçeneğin kurabiye olmasına karar verdim. Mağazaya girdiğimizde tadına bakmamız için iki çeşit kurabiye ikram edildi. İkisine de beğendim ancak Kavala kurabiyesi olarak bilineninden iki paket aldım.
And here we come to the most beautiful photo of the day. When you think of Edirne, two things come to mind first. One is Selimiye Mosque and the other is liver. Here the liver is cut into leaves and fried. It is not like the diced liver we know. You should taste this version too. Actually, I like the regular liver better, but this one tasted very good too.
Ve geldik günün en güzel fotoğrafına. Edirne dendiğinde ilk öne akılla iki şey gelir. Biri Selimiye Camii diğeri ise ciğer. Burada ciğer yaprak şeklinde kesilir ve kızartılır. Bildiğimiz küp küp doğranmış ciğerlere benzemiyor. Bu versiyonunun tadına da bakmalısınız. Aslında ben normal olan ciğeri daha çok seviyorum ama bunun tadı da çok güzeldi.
The second day of the holiday. We checked out of the hotel today. I walked around with my suitcase until we hit the road :( First, we had breakfast in a place with a garden. Rabbits accompanied our breakfast :) Then we went to a shopping center. After spending some time there, we realized that we were hungry :) After eating a lahmacun, we headed to the bus station.
Tatilin ikinci günü. Bugün otelden çıkışımızı yaptık. Yola çıkana kadar valizle dolaştım :( İlk önce bahçeli bir mekanda kahvaltı yaptık. Kahvaltımıza tavşanlar da eşlik etti :) Daha sonra bir alış veriş merkezine gittik. Orada biraz vakit geçirdikten sonra acıktığımızı fark ettik :) Birer lahmacun yedikten sonra otogara doğru yola çıktık.
The last photo is from the bus station. What I learned from this vacation is not to postpone our plans. If we want to do something with someone we love, we should not postpone. Make an effort to realize your dreams.
