A Weekend to Remember: My Cousin’s Heartwarming Wedding
Not Your Typical Wedding
Where I come from, weddings are grand and festive. They usually last two days — one for the henna night and another for the big party. Everyone dresses up in elegant and traditional outfits, there’s music, dancing, and huge feasts.
But this time, things were a little different.
My cousin Ünal and his fiancée wanted something simple from the start. A wedding without the stress, without the noise — just them and the people they love. And they made it happen.
A Convoy Full of Joy
On Saturday morning, we gathered at my aunt’s house to start the day. After some tea and cheerful conversations, we got into our cars and drove in a 30-vehicle convoy to pick up the bride. The road was filled with honking, laughter, and music. It was impossible not to smile.
We picked up our lovely bride with blessings and applause. Then we headed to the wedding hall, which was already buzzing with people. Though the plan was “simple,” the warmth and energy of our big family filled the room completely.
Football Twist: A Prank on the Groom
One of the funniest moments came thanks to my brother. My cousin Ünal is a passionate Galatasaray supporter — but their wedding date happened to fall on the anniversary of Fenerbahçe, their rival team.
My brother couldn’t miss the opportunity. He edited a photo of the couple to make it look like they were wearing Fenerbahçe jerseys and framed it as a gift.
When he presented it during the ceremony, the room burst into laughter. Ünal was surprised, but eventually laughed along too. It was the kind of moment that makes a day unforgettable.
Rings, Gifts, and Endless Photos
After the ceremony came the traditional gift-giving. Ünal wore a ribbon instead of a tie — and it filled up quickly! Then we all posed for photos: family portraits, group pictures, solo shots… Every photo captured the genuine joy of the day.
Ladies to Aunt’s, Gents to the Café
After the event, the women went back to my aunt’s house where we shared a delicious home-cooked meal and endless conversation. The men gathered at my uncle’s café nearby. It was relaxed and filled with laughter.
As the sun began to set, we headed home. Tired, but hearts full.
What This Weekend Left Behind
There was no henna night, no halay dancing — but this wedding was full of heart.
Simple in appearance, rich in emotion. This wasn’t just a wedding; it was the beginning of a beautiful chapter, celebrated in the most personal and joyful way. A weekend to cherish forever.
Wow congrats to your cousin on his special day. Thank you for sharing your guys moments with us.
