Today we restored encrypted Bitcoin wallet for my friend, which password was lost 7+ years ago .
His BTC value grew up 13x during these years.
All Untouched 7 years

Imagine his reaction and joy now

How did you restore that while having the password lost? I have an Ethereum wallet on which I don't remember the password...

It took us many many days of brute-force cracking on a fast PC with expensive graphic card. Luckily we could create a list of high probability, but limited qty of keywords, as used as his favorites in many passwords he use. God knows how many trilions of combinantions has been tested

Not very easy. 14 characters long, alpha-numeric+caps+special characters.

14 characters? It is a lot... Were said that 15 is OK for brute force password crackers... I have to make more stronger password...

This was not true "brute force" , but with a pre-determined possible words and letter combinations, so certain pattern combinations were tried first
