Still on Still Waters.

Never thought a day would come I'd have to use a month plus to start and finish reading a book. It was crazy how I didn't get bored of it mid way. Another tick on why it was a good book. It left me with a good impression on the author, Tami Hoag. I've never really read a full-on mystery book, like without excessive thrillers. Tami Hoag, well, there were some parts in the book she tried to input some little scenes to make your toes curl a bit but I don't think it went so well, considering I read through it with the same eyes and heart beat I started the book with;)

‎She nailed her character really well, but at some point you'd notice who her two favourite were. Or I'm just being selective, who knows.

‎"I'm reading Still waters." "I'm still on Still Waters." "The book is unfortunately and fortunately still being read by me." You won't be hearing all that from me anymore because finally and I'd say it again, finally, I've completed the book. It was a lovely journey and after I was done reading the last page of the book, I set it asides and had to like reminisce on it a bit. I can't lie and say I don't miss reading it. It turned into a daily routine. Every night, around 8pm, I'd pick up the book and read till 9pm. Then, there were some random days when a chapter was just so good and I couldn't resist the temptation, I'll just read it till 10pm. It was a dedicated journey because normally, I wouldn't be able to pull through. Would've dropped the book halfway and never pick it up again. With that being said, let's dive into the plot of the book.

‎Still Waters by Tami Hoag is a story about Elizabeth Stuart and her son Trick. The book begins with Elizabeth trying to go home in Still Creek after the breakdown of her car somewhere far away. Elizabeth recently just got divorced by Brock Stuart, a very rich and popular man in Texas. Gtting used to the louboutins, Lamborghinis, Chanel bags and wealth– she had to go back and start afresh, being left with nothing after the divorce. Brock was an asshole(permit me for using such words but I just had to.) The reason Elizabeth wanted a divorce was because he cheated on her and she couldn't bring herself to remain in that relationship and then, during the divorce, because of the effect that news might have on his reputation – he twisted the whole thing and portrayed Elizabeth to be a gold digger and nothing else. And power and money, they're very very influencing things. Elizabeth took the brunt of it all.

‎Yikes, that was a major spoiler. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to give that off(it just sort of happened). Okay, back to the plot. Elizabeth on her way to get someone to help her with her car, encounters a murdered man, Jarvis. This makes her a suspect and witness in the whole police investigation, leading her to a man called Dane. Dane jantzen.

‎In Still Creek, things don’t go easy for Elizabeth. That fresh peaceful start she aimed for, for her and Trick, when walking out of Brock's life? Sadly, the universe was against her and she didn't get it, not in anyway. The town was fond of her and not in a good way. Her past, her family name, the divorce… everything follows her like a shadow."That's that Stuart woman on the news. Just look at her, with her shiny red lipgloss, what's she doing here?" They look at her like she doesn’t belong.

‎The murder of Jarvis opens up wounds in the town no one wants to talk about. And the more Elizabeth gets caught in it, the more she starts uncovering things that were never meant to come to light. Secrets. History. And a whole lot of bad blood.

‎Then there’s Dane Jantzen — the local chief of police. He’s the kind of man who doesn’t do well with change. Doesn’t trust easily. And definitely doesn’t want someone like Elizabeth stirring up trouble. But fate has its own plan. They butt heads. A lot. But somehow, between the tension and accusations, there’s a strange connection between them that neither of them can fully ignore.

‎And while the town keeps its mouth shut and the danger gets closer, Elizabeth finds herself walking deeper into a mystery that could destroy everything — if she doesn’t figure it out first.

‎Alright, I decided to pause a lot on spilling spoilers and made it into a trailer kind of thing. Yep. Still Waters is an amazing book. I loved it, it was a companion to me during that almost two months I spent reading it. I was there whenever I was about to sleep, always. I loved the author's writing style, loved the real life reference and I genuinely enjoyed it. Out of five stars, I'll give it four.

‎Thanks for reading

Yeah, i see why you couldn’t drop the book. That’s a decent amount of intrigue you already have in this review.

Oh yess. Even the beginning of the book is quite intriguing. "Life's a bitch and then, you die"😂
Would definitely not be forgetting that anytime soon🫠

I'm a huge fan a thrillers and mystery. And I can tell I'll be hooked the same way you were on this book. I enjoyed reading your review and I'm already so curious to find out for myself what went on. Lol, but using one month for one book???
Definitely adding this to my TBR now.

Lol, but using one month for one book???

I have fallen off my horse, but the most important factor was that I was in school and normally, i don’t read books in school so this was a huge step up for me, it just came with cons😭.
And yes, it’s a really lovely book.
