I saw this prompt from @oluchi31 was like Why not give it a try?
And now I ask myself the question, Do I see myself as more motivated by passion, profit or inpendence. Firstly, we got to understand the meaning of all three and how they correlate with living. Passion is this undiluted enthusiasm for something, to do something. And then we have the one thing that squashes “passion” to the ground, profit and the need to survive. And then, we have independence. We’’ll go with financial independence.

Some years back, this wouldn’t even be something I’ll have to think about. I’ll open my mouth and say “passion” straight. It was passion first and then, profit and then, independence. It was in this very order. If I do something I love and get paid doing it, I’ll eventually be independent. Yes, that was the plan. And the ideal.

And now, present day, I have been opportuned to do something I love to do and get paid for it and I can’t help but say it’s not a good experience. I loved it at first; but eventually it began to feel forced, like I was deliberately doing it just to meet a deadline and then profit. My passion for it began to decelerate but it didn’t fade away. It’s still there but not just in the time and space, I want it to be in. It’s like I did better when I didn’t feel pressure and something tells me that’s how it is for most people.

So now, I’ll go with independence. Financial independence, the ability to afford what I want whenever I want it. That’s what motivates me the most, I want my kids to be nepo kids and I want to eventually create a better life for the people around me. I just want to take care of the people that always had my back. And it hasn’t changed since it changed. Independence. That’s what motivates me.

Thanks for reading.

What an insightful entry. I agree that when we turn our passion into something for living, it is so easy we get burry by the routine and the demand. The need to achieve the daily quota to keep the business afloat can be challenging and make us forget about what it is all about when we start it. And yeah, in this economy, we dream of financial independence and that's also valid because who doesn't want an easier life. So no matter what, I hope that you can achieve your goal and be proud of yourself.

Totally relatable, It’s amusing how our motivation starts to shift over time, like from pure passion to valuing security and independence. Your reflection shows the clarity about what truly drives you. It was a pleasure to read your post!

Sometimes, when we have the opportunity to do something we love, the passion for it can wane. Because of deadlines and pressures, the same joy we got from it in the beginning is diminished. Our perspective change.

Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day!

Yeah, being pressured is nothing to joke about. It can be really depressing and take the fun out of anything.

Thanks for stopping by and your kind words;)

There is a quote I learned long ago.

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” — Confucius
