Reasons why I don't read books shown off by bookstagram.
Okay, right now I'm trying my best to not be dissapointed or anything. I mean there's this book series I've been wanting to read since like last year after I was done with blood and ash. I was seeing it everywhere, getting good reviews and stuff. And now, I'm reading it and yo,I am so confused. I really don't know why. Maybe I've been knocked out of books for so long and that's why I've not been trying to read it and it's not fitting the ideal vision I expected the book to give me. Or maybe I'm just reading under pressure or something because my holiday will soon be over and I just need to read something before I go back to that hellhole called university.
The particular book I'm talking about is Poppy wars. Poppy wars by RF kuang. At first I was slapped by the third person's perspective writing. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely do not mind reading in anyone. First person, third person... it's just about the creativity and how unique one can be. Alright and I'm trying to read this, it's flowing and everything. I'm getting to know the main character in the first chapter and then I'm in the next chapter and I am so confused. It's like I'm being slapped with everything at once. The multiple names of things, different characters that don't actually make any sense but make sense because definitely they add to the story. It's just extremely traumatizing. Low-key traumatizing in a book-ish way. I'm still reading it though and I hope it eventually leads me on cause right now,my right leg is at the edge of the cliff. I am lost. I am confused. And I have my right eyebrows up. With extreme difficulty by the way.
Anyways,I don't actually like getting recommendations from these places but it's all good though. I guess I'll just have to go with my guts the way I usually do and pick up a book randomly from my shelf. I can't really say a summary about Poppy wars. But I hope for something good and I have seen a lot of recommendations concerning this book. So I'll trust them and continue, even if I'm so confused it's like I'm just reading the words with my eyes and not my heart.
Anyways, that's all I guess...
Thanks for reading.
I fell victim to the extreme hype surrounding this book on booktube actually. Left it halfway through. I wish I could join the rant with you but I don't remember anything about this book even after wasting so much of my time on it.
That said, I don't usually get my recommendations from bookstagram but booktube I really like. Even though some books are a miss, most are a hit for me.
You see!!!
Glad it's not only me that didn't feel the book at all!
Booktube? I didn't know there was a booktube
Booktube is basically youtube videos on books.
My favourite booktuber there is peruseproject.
