Learning to draw.
Hello everyone.
For some reasons the hours in a day doesn't quite sum up to 24 anymore,it feels like 20 or 18 even. I've been trying my hardest finding spare time to sketch cause I'm always busy and I have other hobbies. The last time I posted on this community,it was one with a mini farewell and a note on how I wanted to improve more on my drawing skills and find my way/ path. Well, this post isn't really about that. I'll say something about the lessons I'm giving myself later at the end of this post.
Right now,I want to introduce you guys to my first ever OC(this isn't true). Funny enough,I don't exactly know what an OC means. I just know it's your own drawn and designed character, specifically created by you. Lately, I've been drawing a lot of female characters for some reasons unknown to me.
There's still a lot I have to learn. In as much as I'm getting some lessons about drawing as a whole, I'm also trying to find my art style. I've been drawing since I was 7 and I don't still have an art style, I feel pathetic but such is life. If you'd notice,my first posts on here were drawings of anime characters and that was last year. After 5 years of not drawing anything apart from school stuff,I finally decided to pick up my pencil in 2023 out of depression, anxiety and other random things. And yeah, for the first time in my life I'm actually thankful for being down so bad.
I took some pictures of the process, it's not a lot because I forgot to take pictures,I always forget to do this. The process:
I wanted a 3/4 type of portrait, so I drew a mini guide that I knew I won't follow. I sketched one part of her face and jawline. Started her eyes, eyebrows and her nose.
I proceeded to drawing her lips and ears. I still need to work on lips and ears, especially the lips.
Then I started drawing her hair. You can see my pathetic attempt of drawing a guide for her jawline.
I made her hair short cause it seemed pretty and I prefer short hair.
Added some more details in her hair. And you're probably wondering why I haven't drawn her eyes yet. The truth is I'm always very anxious when it comes to giving my art a physical personality if that makes any sense. "Maybe she doesn't want to actually exist yet so why make her do so by drawing her eyes and life into her?", I ask myself everytime.
This is the final look.
Sorry if it looks a bit blur,I took this particular picture in the dark. It seems as if some lines had been cleaned off too. I had just finished adding extra details and doing a little shading,I just had to take the picture to show you guys.
And yes,I did say I was going to talk about the lessons I was giving myself. Well, they're going really slow cause I'm a procrastinator(I need help) and I have a lot of things to joggle so it's going as slow as it can but ahah I'm a fast learner I pray so I'm grabbing the things I need to grab quickly I guess. I'm still on the practice of drawing faces in different directions. This is a bit confusing but I've been practicing perspective for a year now at the university so learning this wasn't really difficult, it's drawing the full head including the hair, eyes and other facial features that has me on my knees. I'm not even a centimeter closer to my goals yet. And a sneak peek of how it's been going guys:
I'll see you all soon, maybe another time I decide to stomp on the procrastinator in me. Thanks for reading.

She looks like one of those Egyptian gods or goddesses. I can't really point out which cause I don't know them that well. How many papers did you tear before you finished this?😂
When I was done,I thought she looked like Nara Smith.
Sigh, you know me so well😞. But I don't tear papers again out of frustration, this time I'll just leave it and go and do something else till it enters inside my mind to continue the drawing🤓
Aww. You made a drawing of Nara Smith from scratch? That's wonderful 😂
