In the Bleak Midwinter:A story of Love after the end(comic review)
I was really obsessed with Webtoon in 2023. Things just went downhill the moment I started going higher in university. I fell off really bad and crashed out a lot. And then I started reading and not completing Webtoon comics because apparently I didn't have time for it. It didn't fit into anywhere,I had to sleep, study, read a novel, watch a movie, Instagram anime or something,do random things too. And most times I don't even get to completely do half of what I just mentioned.
I really liked this comic,In the Bleak Midwinter. I think I started reading it sometime last year but didn't get to complete it because there were no more chapters uploaded...

Alright,so recently, I think two days ago; I was swiping through the comics I subscribed to on Webtoon and then I saw this beauty pop up in my screen. Tapped it to see they had released more than 12 chapters more. I was so happy but I had forgotten some things in the comic,so I had to start it all over again. But it was worth it I guess. I enjoyed it once more.
In the Bleak Midwinter is a sci-fi Webtoon written by Kat and Ali. It combines cryogenics, soulmates, and a dash of apocalypse—because who doesn't like their love stories with a side of dystopia? The tale follows Anya, a woman burdened by the loss of her sister and a "soulmate timer" that still has 25 years on the clock. Deciding that waiting is overrated, Anya opts for a long nap in a cryogenic pod, hoping to fast-forward through her grief and loneliness. Spoiler: things don't go as planned.
When Anya wakes up, it's not to the world she left behind. Instead, she finds herself in a post-apocalyptic landscape where society has crumbled faster than a poorly executed rug pull. The world is now a dangerous place filled with killers, and Anya must navigate this treacherous terrain while figuring out whether to follow her heart or keep her head—literally.
As she ventures through this new reality, Anya encounters various groups and individuals, each with their own agendas and secrets. Trust is a scarce commodity, much like finding a reliable witness node during peak hours. Among these new acquaintances is a mysterious figure named Omega, whose stoic demeanor and combat skills make enigmatic.
The narrative delves into themes of survival, identity, and the human condition, all while Anya grapples with the concept of destiny versus free will. Her soulmate timer continues to tick down, adding a layer of urgency to her quest. Is destiny something preordained, or can it be hacked like a smart contract?

You know, sometimes it gets confusing as you read it. I mean we're practically learning that these Androids have soul mates, have hearts and stuff. It's remarkably mind-blowing;in a good and bad way. I mean AI is a lovely addition to the human race but it has a lot of cons. A whole lot that some human continue to turn a blind eye to. But it's fine though,as long as we don't experience a war between AIs or anything.
Thanks for reading...
Ohhhh! I haven't seen this on Webtoon but I have come across others like this. for some reason, this feels very familiar like I watched a movie like that. Adding to my list.
It is so good fr!
It's especially better since all the proposed romantic male characters are so fine!😔🔥
