The Thrilling part of Donations

Giving is a good way of helping people, there is a saying that says: Givers never lacks.

But sometimes whenever you give to people you might want to know their true intentions and why they are requesting you to Give them aims, this is because some people can be very fraudulent in their ways,
I remember an event that happened in our Community last September, it was a really unbelievable act from people.
One of the people that usually assist us in the Neighborhood for maintenance of the Transformer, was electrocuted when he was working on the transformer. That day The Power Holding staff didn't remember to wear all the complete gear to repair the damaged Cables in the transformer. He probably thinks he can be very careful with working the damaged cable.

Unfortunately for him that was a very big and costly mistake, that later cost him almost his left leg. He got electrocuted and his left leg were severely burnt, he was lucky the leg wasn't amputated.
So some of the Power Holding staffs met together and they selected 2 staffs to go round the neighbourhood, visiting churches and shops to collect donations for the treatment of the staff, so they went to almost every where to collect the donations,
when they reached my office, I personally gave them #15,000 for the treatment of the Man although they were only collecting #2,000 per shops. In assumption I will believe those guys went to more than 20 people, which should have been at least #30,000 should in case the other guys didn't pay up to #2000.

To my greatest surprise, I went to visit the Man that was electrocuted, I asked him how much he later got in donation from community, He told me he was only given #20,000, I was so angry after hearing what the Man said, I begin to fume all around, he asked me what really is wrong, I told him that I gave those people 15,000 to add for his donation, how can they still remove from the donations.

This really pained me, and from that time Whenever people reach out to me sometime like donations, I usually ask and know Thier true intentions, if it doesn't sit well with me, I will give below what I can give or sometime I don't even give.
Donating these days sometimes feel like throwing money in to the well, sometimes You want to help, but then how do you know it's actually making a difference?

I Have been there, sometimes I wonder if my cash is doing more harm than good.
The truth is that in reality, there are so many scams, my people in Nigeria calls them 419, and some other shady charities out there, it's crucial to be smart about where you give.

All I can advise people that are donating is that they should be ware of Donations with No clear financials, also Donations with shady leadership, or donations that lack of updates on impact.
It's is very good to know that the Donations you gave make the Required significant impact.
