Compliments of season, i hope we all are having a very merry holidays.
We all love holiday seasons don't we?
Am sure almost every one reading this blog loves to have a leisure time out of work. Holidays are fantastic times of the year that really give us that free time to rest, be with families, go for picnics, go to the movies, the beaches and many other fun places, you won't normally go when you are working or doing business.
But we can all agree that there are some things that usually happens during holidays that are not pleasurable.
Yes they are just not fun or Good for the festive season.
One of my favourite time of the year is December. That was because of Christmas and New year eve celebration. But hey there are two things that are usually peculiar about this festival seasons, which is the excessive High cost of things and lack of understanding of what the Christmas celebration really means.
Here are some of the Top Annoying Traditions during Christmas and New year Eve
The Excessive Hike in Price of Things
Why the Hike in price of things on Christmas?
Christmas is a celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ, for Christian this has a very large symbolic meanings, Jesus Represents Love and Light of the World.
For A Celebration Like Christmas which is based on love and sharing love. Things are supposed to be Cheap. So that sharing could be made easy.
Looking Closely at the present situation of things, Price of Foodstuffs is on the High side.
What about Transportation? The prices of transport is now doubled.
I remember the last price of the transport from Benue state to Lagos state Nigeria was #13,000 (Thirteen thousand Naira) but Now the cost to move To Lagos from Benue State is Now #25,000 - #27,000 (Approximately Twenty-five thousand Naira to Twenty Seven thousand Naira only).
This is enough to scare anyone without much transport fare to back down from traveling.
Although most people here in Nigeria will blame it on the Hike in price of Petrol(Motor Spirit). But the bitter truth is that these ridiculous prices are orchestrated by people to themselves.
That strange Mindset of always inflating prices of things during December period is Alarming and Ridiculous.
The True Meaning of Christmas?
Many people celebrating Christmas don't really know the meaning of Christmas,
Many believe Christmas is about eating Food, some believe Christmas is about going to clubs, outings and events, others believe its about seeing their families and friends, traveling far and wide to visit relatives and others but is that the true meaning for the celebration?
Jesus is the reason for the season. The Ultimate sacrifice of the father to us, the true saviour and Redeemer of our souls. Partying and eating and visiting families and friends is not Bad but for what purpose? If the Gathering is not about Celebration of the Jesus then the purpose for the celebration is not justified.
We as Christians are supposed to show love and Emphaty, our Light was supposed to shine to others. We should be like a role model to people. People should see Christ in us. This was why we are Christians (We are supposed Christlike).
In conclusion:
I wont call for the End of the Celebration, but let there be a change in Mindset ( Make love show, don't hike price of things especially if the pricing is controlled by you), Let Jesus reflect in everything we do.

The way people hike the prices of goods just because of festive season is really alarming in Nigeria. I just hope this tradition will stop

Excessive hike in prices is also observed in other regions. I think it's common and people focuses on making more money with hiking up prices and this tradition should be banned or should be censored.
Really, I thought it is only Nigerians that do this, that practices really needs to stop
Seriously during this period thing are sold very expensive what you can purchase #200 during Xmas is #400
In my country Indonesia too, as you said just now, which is the most annoying in this year-end holiday, indeed almost all the prices of goods are 80% up, in my opinion, it is very inelegant for the small people.
People consider the festive period an opportunity to make money off others, but that cannot make things easier for them because if you sell at a high price, you will buy at a high cost as well.
