People will always talk about you, if they don't that means you are not important, but it goes deeper than that sometimes people talk a lot of things they don't know they just assumes and label just to make their Gossips and discussion fulfilled.
A stereotype is like a widely held but oversimplified idea or beliefs or image about a particular group of people, thing, or situation.
I call it generalisation. It's like a mental shortcut that can be misleading or inaccurate.
But how can you really generalized that all set of people do a certain thing or behave a certain way, just doesn't make sense, I mean everybody can't be that way, we are all unique in our ways,
Let me first start with where I stay.
So I live in Benue state, which is the Northern part of Nigeria, here people believe everyone from the North is Muslims and that they are illitrate.
It's a very crazy assumption and Labeling.
Benue state is in the North, precisely North central, but 80% of the population are christians, many a time whenever I chatted with some of our client on WhatsApp and X app, they do ask me if I went to Friday prayers😂, I do let them know I'm a Christian and that not all northerners are Muslims.
Another stereotype from the North is that Every Northerners are Hausa and Fulani tribe.

This Generalisation is also wrong, the crazy thing is that Benue state has just 3 Major tribes, The TIVs, IDOMA and IGEDE, the others are minority.
Although I love hausa Language but since I'm not in a state they speak Hausa, I never really know much about the Language rather than when it is being used in Music.
The final and the most challenging stereotype is when people think I am doing some illegal Jobs ( Like Fraud: also known as yahoo yahoo in Nigeria) just because I am mostly indoors, if I got no appointment out there.
So they come to me, saying funny things like; Boss Mi please come and show me some updates other ones will call me Taker or Old Taker lol.
It's a very crazy assumption by people that don't even know me or even get to come closer to be my friend so that they could have some idea about my work.
This doesn't stop here, generalisation and stereotypes now go far Abroad.
Everyone seems to tag every Nigerians as a scammer, sincerely I can't blame them though, our government has really failed us, our youth have now glorified scamming, there was one time I saw an opportunity to apply for a job online, but they had a lot of conditions and terms. At that time Nigerian was not given the opportunity to work and it's a very painful one.
Have I overcome all this stereotypes? My answer is yes,

Most of the the time I just let them know by explaining to them in a very understanding manner.
Many people don't really had the mind to stereotype people, they just ended up being around people that stereotype people or some groups of people.

Its not a joke. The caption to this prompt says it all. Why label people because you either don’t like them due to selfish reasons or because you can not meet up to their standards?
Its nothing even a thing of border as far as am concern
Stereotype can be hurtful sometimes honestly
Exactly friend. But we must not be brought down by others.
Wait that tribe now, is it that they speak diffrient language ?
Which tribe is that?
