I have always wanted to share some of this amazing experiences to people, although some of my friends here on Hive must have heard about some of them.

My Experience with the one year compulsory Youth service to the Nation. Here in Nigeria after completing your University or polytechnic institute and you finish all the clearance in your higher institution which includes all results and payment clearance, you will be mobilised into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The NYSC Is an initiative by the Government, NYSC was created on the 22nd of May 1973.
This was during the reign of general Yakubu Gowon regime.
The Main aim of The NYSC, is for Nation wide Cooperation and Unity Between all the diverse ethnic groups in Nigeria, NYSC serves as an avenue for the reconciliation, reconstruction, and rebuilding of the nation after the civil war.

So Basically after the youths completed their studies in the University they get Mobilized to different parts of the Nation, Mostly out of the graduates home town or Local government.
Before you can be mobilised to the community you will serve, you are to undergo some compulsory one month Encampment in the Orientation Camp, in this camp you get to know the important information about the state you are currently serving, you get to be taught and equipped with skills and expertise which you show interest in, and also have fun like playing Games and inter platoons competition.

I was posted to Benue state, which was a North central state, our NYSC Orientation Camp is located in Wanune Tarka Local Government.
First off, I didn't want to come to Benue State, in fact I was so shocked immediately I saw my posting letter, and my State for service was Benue.
I called every one I know so that they can help me process my relocation from Benue to South west, I paid a large sum of money for that relocation but all to no avail.

After reporting at the Orientation Camp in Tarka and completing the first one month in the camp, I accepted my fate that I will just go ahead to complete my Service. To cut the Long story short, I finished my services in Benue state, Got a Job, I started my own business and by the Grace of God I am very grateful that I was posted to Benue state. Even though I never thought I would ever be in a state like Benue, but I am glad and so grateful for the friends I made here, school I worked with, my Church and many other things I can't remember but am grateful for them all.

Should NYSC continue or it should be Scrapped Off?

My Answer is that NYSC should continue, I feel the program have Helped a lot of youth out there to Get Employment, Marry , Explore and Learn. There are many benefits I enjoyed from the program, I think the program would continue to bless more people, so it should continue no Matter the opinions of some people.
This is my take on whether the program should continue or Not.

All pictures are mine

Thank you so much for your time ❤️

I hope you enjoy and have a great day 😘
