I'm sure we can all agree that We're living in an incredible time, aren't we?
To tell the truth, we are truly blessed with abundance of Information and Knowledge these days.

We are in a digital Age where technology has so much advanced that you no longer need to go through thick and thin to get an Information, an Artificial Intelligence or Machine is all over the corner to get that done for you.

We now have some amazing devices like computers which processes information in Nanoseconds or lesser, I can even really know how crazily fast they are, we have smart phones now that does the work of a Computer and more now.
Just imagine in all the gadgets that was simplified together to make up that smartphones we are all carrying.
I'm currently using one to type here , I can't even go into details on all the apps on this device!
A camera
A camcorder
A radio
A telephone
A TV
A Video player
A Game
A storage Device
A Remote
A computer
A Diary
A Textbook
A Calculator
A watch

I can't even remember 50% of all the handy components. That's just how super smart our smartphones are information and knowledge are literally at our fingertips!
It's now easy for us to sit down in one place for weeks without going out, we can easily place an order of food items and market stuffs.

Unlike the olden days, not so olden though like 50 years ago, we have to go extra mile, time and Money would have to be deeply involved to get Knowledge. We have to travel to some city library to get a particular book.
In those days people make use of pigeon to send letters and other information, we use post office, I mean send of mail through the post office
Just read above to see how far we

But, have you ever stopped to think about the potential downsides of having all this information so easily accessible, I mean like super fingertip kinda easy stuff???

Just think about it the whole thing, we can Google anything, anytime, and get instant answers. We can learn new skills, explore new interests, and connect with people all over the world, we even have AI (Artificial Intelligence) to do our stuffs for us, its all looks scary easy. Well you can call It amazing but it's so super scary too, because there is always a big challenge following up these easy stuffs, as with anything in life, there are trade-offs. And I think it's essential we know some of the points that shows the disadvantages.

Alright let's look at some of the disadvantages of easy information that I really need to enlighten you on:

  • Too much Information to process: I call this information overload, With so many info out there, it's easy to feel overwhelmed.
I don't know if you have ever felt overwhelmed when you try to search out some stuff online, and you don't even know where to start from, How do we prioritize what's truly important.

  • Easy information creates Lack of Critical Thinking:
Think about it: Whenever answers are just a Google search away, do we lose the ability to think critically and solve problems on our own? Are we missing out on developing essential skills like analysis, evaluation, and creativity? Yes you guessed right o, we are missing some details, we are lacking critical thinking

  • We get to be very Dependence on Technology:
I am a big suspect on this, I can't do an hour without my phone, I mean it's turning to an addiction, I am getting too dependent on these Gadgets.
The other day the internet connection and the network went off for like 12 hours, my life became so boring and hard. What I think now is that we are forgetting how to think for ourselves. Are we losing touch with our own inner wisdom and intuition?

  • Too many Misinformation and Disinformation: Trust me when I say this that Not everything online is true! How do we know what sources to trust? How do we discern fact from fiction, it's quite alarming.

  • Loss of Deep Learning_: With the internet, we can skim the surface of a topic quickly, but do we miss out on really diving deep and understanding the nuances? Are we sacrificing depth for breadth?, this is the sad reality of Easy access to vast knowledge available always.

To me all this disadvantage can be controlled, and I fell the People of old don't really have much intelligence than us, although I will beg to differ, some exceptional people like Isaac Newton, Thomas Edison and the likes could have really done More with technology at hand. Here is my thoughts. My response to the prompt #hl-w150e2.

You're right boss, we're depending too much on tech and it's becoming an addiction already.
Nevertheless, I also think we can balance things if we want because technology has taken over already.

You are on point my friend that we live in such an incredible time. As much as there are many advantages to accessing information and knowledge, I feel that some people have never relatively lazy in doing background research since all they ever wanted is ready available on the internet.

Our smarter world nonetheless is appreciable as we live in such comfort tham our fathers but to say the least, these same advancement have made us distanced ourselves in so many ways.

Yes Technically we are getting lazy, with in-depth search of knowledge and overdependence on technology,
I hope we can balance things up

I don't think we are ready to balance things up.
Today, AI has made our laziness worst. It will only get worst especially for those of us from this part of the world where we depend on other people research output to live.

I have to agree, AI is getting some people more complacent and dull but we just hope we wake up to realise this,
Imagine what will Happen when the Super AI gets it's full form.
I just Hope we can get things balanced honestly.

Well, we can only do ourselves more harm than good when we think we can try to learn everything at once without been choked by them. Intelligence is found in applying and processing what you've learnt and that's where we get smarter. Some of our predecessors were smarter too in their own ways just like some of us today.

Intelligence is found in applying and processing

This is just what is missing in this modern time, we lack critical Thinking and Dependency on technology is quite alarming now

It is true that artificial intelligence is a technology that is helping us a lot, especially people who are teaching or people who are content creators on YouTube. Our lives will become much easier in the coming time.
