Breaking the Circle of Violence
Hello Everyone,
The world has always been plagued by violence, affecting millions of people across the globe. From wars and terrorist attacks to domestic violence and bullying, the impact of violence is devastating.
Let's Imagine a world where children can grow up without fear of violence, where communities can thrive without the burden of trauma, and where everyone can live with dignity and respect.
Here in My Country, Violence seems to be a never Ending thing, from kidnapping, to Religious wars, police brutality and many more.
Most of the Time I do check for what is really causing this, what exactly is the root of all this violence outburst, I came to some conclusion: Religion has been on of the Major cause, then Ethnicity and illiteracy.
Violence affects us all, whether it's through personal experience, community impact, or the ripple effects of global conflicts.
Understanding the Root Causes of Violence
To address violence, we must first understand its root causes. Remember I summarised some of my findings, but there are other examples which includes:
- Religion and Extremists practices one big cause of Violence in my Country is Religion, it's so crazy that a system of Belief and Faith would be the main trigger to violence that leads to loss of life and Properties.
Every now and then, people dies due to religious conflict and Extreme practices. Recently in Edo Nigeria, some 16 people lost their lives because of carrying the local guns and tools with them, they were alleged Hunters going to Kano for their Salah celebration, they got intercepted by Local Vigilante and when they saw them with Dane guns, they were tagged as Kidnappers, hence their killing. It's unfortunate that such thing would happen in the first place.
- Poverty and inequality: this is another important reason for violence in the country, Economic disparities and social injustices can lead to feelings of frustration, anger, and hopelessness.
Many frustrated people can easily snap at the slightest of provoking.
An Hungry Man is an Angry Man. His anger can be unleashed on anyone that comes his way.
Lack of education and opportunities: whenever there is Limited access to education, job opportunities, and resources can contribute to a sense of desperation and violence.
Many violence happening in this present are caused by a lot of frustrated youth.Cultural and social norms: Harmful cultural and social norms, such as toxic masculinity and patriarchy, can perpetuate violence. I would also say that cultism is also part of the causes of violence, I can't even state how many time, people died because of Cultism alone.
Mental health and trauma: Untreated mental health issues and unresolved trauma can lead to violent behavior. Many people in Lagos are usually tagged as Crazy people 😂, that's just not literal though.
What can we do to Prevent Violence anywhere we are
Many things can actually be done, like we can Educate people about the root causes of violence, its impact, and the importance of promoting peace and nonviolence, many talk shows are out there, we can always find a medium of enlightenment for the masses.Another one to engage in to is Community engagement:
We can always try a Foster community engagement and social connections through programs and initiatives that promote social cohesion and inclusivity. Just make sure we are able to come to their level.
We can also do some Economic empowerment programs economic that provide access to education, job training, and economic opportunities. The Government actually tried some programmes like Npower initiatives in Nigeria but there are a lot of drawbacks but I think people are still engaging in it.
We need to Advocate for policy changes that address the root causes of violence, such as poverty, inequality, and lack of access to education and opportunities.
In conclusion
Breaking the cycle of violence requires a collective effort. We must work together to address the root causes of violence, promote peace and nonviolence, and support those affected by violence.
I believe the world can't be violence free but we can all strive hard to keep it in Order.
