Good morning, people of Hive Naija. And welcome to Hive Naija's weekly prompts. The topic I will be writing on among the two Hive Naija topics is: What is that one thing you think you can but haven't done and one thing you thought you couldn't do but you're doing it now? So let's dive into today's topic.
What is that one thing you think you can do but haven't done?
The one thing I can do but haven't done is dance, especially on a stage. I love dancing a lot because it gives me joy, happiness, etc. If I am bored or angry and I hear music playing, I won't know when I will start dancing, but when people are around me and they are hearing music for me to dance since I love dancing, I won't because I am a shy person. I don't like it when I am dancing and people are around me, I will feel unconscious that what if am dancing and I fall down or I make mistakes on my dancing steps that people will mock or laugh at me, that's why I prefer to dance in my room or a private place rather than when people are around me.
There's this one time I was dancing in my room and one of my friends visited me and saw me dancing, unknowingly to me, she had been watching how I was dancing and purposely didn't want to talk because I once told my friends that I could dance, so she kept mute by watching all my dancing steps until I heard someone coughing at my back, got shocked and when I turned around, I saw my friend who was laughing, then I noticed her phone; she had recorded me all along to show my other friends.
One faithful day, all the departments under the Social Science Faculty which is my faculty wanted to do a dancing competition and we were asked to select five candidates in each department that would participate in the dancing competition, and among all the departments, am among the sociology department, so when my department was choosing the candidates, my friends told our faculty president who's in 400 level that I can dance and even showed him the video of me dancing, so our faculty president asked them to call me and when I went to meet him, he said I will be among the selected candidates.
Immediately, I told him I was not dancing, he asked me the reason why and I explained to him that I can't dance when people are around me or if people are watching me. I told him to look for another person, and he persuaded and tried to make me participate but when he saw I was not even ready to listen to him, he gave up.
That's about the one thing I can do but haven't done.

One thing I thought I couldn't do was eat once a day. Before, I ate three times a day, and when I saw people eating once, I used to feel pity for them, unaware that I would also be in their shoes one day. Before things skyrocketed, we would always eat three times and be full, but when we saw the high price of foodstuffs and other necessary things, we started doing (1-0-1), and we were happy that way.
But about two months ago, we saw that the prices were getting higher and unbearable, so we went to eat once a day; myself and my big brother.
Every day, never in my life have I ever thought I would be eating once a day but see now, we are eating once a day when we see how things are now expensive and how they are adding money to everything, we don't have a choice but to do (0-0-1).
In Nigeria, it's only God who can interfere in all that's happening, may God Almighty help us in all t we are facing. That's about the one thing I thought couldn't do, but I am doing it.

Ahhhh. Dancing in front of the crowd is a different ball game. I won’t be able to either. And the economy is something else. We find ourselves doing stuffs we never thought possible.
Exactly, facing the crowd while dancing is difficult for me to do, and the economy is something else also.
Lol the last isn't funny but it had me laughing. I also thought I can't do without eating at anytime I want to, now I eat with strategy to save cost 😂
So you can dance, well I believe a bigger opportunity will come when you will do what you think you can do but haven't done yet.
Like seriously have never in my life dreamed that I would be eating once a day, and about my dance, I also used to believe that one day bigger opportunity would come my way.
Dancing when you are alone is something fun and exciting but dancing in public darn it's something else, the current economy has gotten to us that we do things that we wouldn't do ordinarily.
Yes dancing alone is fun but dancing in public is something else, yes this economy has made us to do things we never thought we are going to do.
Oh dancing in front of the crowd isn’t really difficult. I dance on stage and whiles I’m dancing, I don’t even see the people because I’m mostly just enjoying the dance and nothing else so I barely see the crowd.
To me dancing in front of crowd is difficult for me because I will be feeling uncomfortable

You're missing. Don't you know you'll get sprayed with money and you tickle the audience with your steps? Lol😅
