Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today's topic is from Hive-Naija and the topic says "What's the quickest way to piss you off, and why?" So, let's dive in.

Everyone has that one thing that quickly pisses them off or gets on their nerves instantly. For some, it may be lying or disrespecting. For others, it might be playing with spit or being ignored. But for me, it's "chewing loudly or with the mouth open."

Do you know the feeling when you're sitting with someone, and the person is chewing loudly or with their mouth open, especially when you're hearing the sound of smacking. It always pisses me off instantly. Sometimes, I feel like I should move closer to that person and slap them across the face. Some people may think it's normal, while some don't even notice that they're making that sound because it has become a habit. But once I hear the sound, especially when I’m trying to focus on something like reading, I lose concentration because that sound alone has distracts me.

Like I said earlier, chewing loudly or with the mouth open might seem normal or not a big deal to those doing it. But for me and others who hate that sound, it's annoying and frustrating.

Sometimes when I'm eating with people, I make sure not to sit near those who chew loudly. Because if I do, once I hear the sound of how they're eating, I will instantly get away from that place. There's something about me, I get irritated easily. Any small abnormal thing can irritate me.

And the worst part is when I see people chewing with their mouths open and food falling out. I feel like vomiting instantly. We have some people who don't know how to eat. Whatever they're eating, food will start falling out from their mouth especially if they are talking. And to make matters worse, if you're sitting or eating beside them, their food might land on your body or even inside your food. That alone is another level of irritation.

A typical example is one of my coursemates, a lady. Whenever she's eating, she always chews loudly, and it annoys me a lot. Because of her habit of chewing loudly, some of my coursemates have told her many times to chew silently so that no one will notice she’s eating. But instead of listening, she always picks a fight, which is unnecessary.

Even we have others like her. Anytime they chew something, they do it loudly or with their mouths open. It's very bad. And anytime you try to correct people like that, they either say "I'm just eating, what's the problem?" or "This is how I eat." But the truth is, it's not just about them. But when they're around people, their behavior matters.

Yes, we have some foods that make noise, such as crunchy chin-chin or chips, etc which is normal. But even at that, we should eat with manners. Like the Yoruba people say, "Ise ile l’amu lo sita"("The behavior we show outside reflects the training we received at home.")

We all know that not everyone was taught proper table manners while growing up, but once we start interacting with others, it becomes important to be mindful of our habits and how they affect people.

In conclusion, the way we eat, especially in public, says a lot about our upbringing. Chewing loudly or with your mouth open might seem harmless to some people, but it can irritate and annoy the people around us.

I don't like people who chew loudly, too. They make sound that people around them will know they are eating but they don't realise it's a bad habit mostly done in public.

Yes, they don't realise that it's a bad habit to chew loudly. I just can't stand such people.

Table manners is very important. Eating and talking aloud is a no-no because there is no way others won't see what you have chewed. It's really irritating to be honest.

Exactly, I just hate those people. To me it's a normal thing but to people around them it's irritating and annoying.

I don't know why, I feel irritated and annoyed when I see people who chew loudly or with their mouth open....even if it's a part of you already, try caution self when you are around people.

Thanks for sharing.
