The Joy of helping others: Personal experience.

One of the important essences of life is helping others. And life is beautiful when we help one another, especially in times of need. Therefore, as we receive help from people, we should also render help.

I can still remember when I was in JSS3 and one of my friends is in SS1, that time my friends including our landlord daughter were going out for outing and they asked me to joined them but I told them no because I love staying indoor except if I feel like going out, so one of my friends which her name is Bolanle have been trying to buy this beautiful shoe which the amount is #2,500 but she only have #1,000 and she don't want to ask her parents or our landlord daughter which is one of my friends because of her characters, and one of her characters is if she render help for you or buy you something and something lead to another and you guys fight she will be telling people that are close to us that the cloth or shoe you are wearing that she's the one that help you to buy it so because Bolanle don't want the mistake to repeat to her twice because she had disgrace her once by saying she was the one who bought cloth for her so she was looking for another way to buy her shoe and the outing they are going remain two days.

And I know how desperate she's in need of the shoe, and I don't have much money. I only have #2,000, and that money I am keeping it for emergencies in case am in need of that money, so because I want to help her buy the shoe i asked for the sample of the shoe. So that afternoon, I told my dad that I was coming and that if my brother and sister are looking for me, he should help me tell them that I went out, so I went to the market to buy the shoe for her, but before I could find the same shoe, it took my time because I couldn't find it where she told me, but I later found the same shoe In one man's shop but the man said the shoe is #2,500 but I only have #2,000 with me. I had to beg that man before he collected the money from my hand, so I went home after two hours of finding the shoe.

So when I got home, my dad was angry that I was late. I told him that I went to the market to buy a shoe for my friend with my money. He was surprised because I was keeping the money for emergencies, but when I told him he shouldn't worry that I couldn't let my friend be sad because of the shoe, he didn't question me again. The following afternoon I called her to our house and I asked her have she buy the shoe she said her money is not complete that she going to the market to buy the shoe her money can buy but I can see the sadness in her voice so I asked her to wait that am coming so I went to my room and brought the shoe and gave it to her she was happy and crying because she wasn't expecting me that I will buy her the shoe when I told her I don't have the money, she asked me how did I get the money to buy it at first I didn't answer her but when she didn't stop by asking I explain to her at first she don't want to collect it but when

I told her that I will see the money back she collected it from me and asked hope I won't be telling people about it I told her to trust me that I won't that even if our remaining friends asked her how she got the money she should tell them that her parents later gave her the money, till now she always thank me for the shoe anytime we talk about the incident. I was glad I could help her and put a smile on her face.
