"Social Media Privacy: Should Employers Have Access."

Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today's topic is "Your Social Media Life," so let's dive in.
Social media has become an important part of our lives today. We use platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, etc., to share our thoughts online, connect with friends, and express ourselves, but the question is, should employers have access to employees social media handles?
Some companies don't do such things because they believe that if they ask about their employees social media handles, it's as if they are invading their employees privacy, while some believe that collecting their employees social media handles and knowing what they post online helps protect their company and their own personal image or reputation.
Why Employers Want Their Employees Social Media Handles.
From the employer's perspective, they believe that what their employees post online can affect the company's reputation. Let’s imagine an employee making a negative and nasty comment about their workplace or posting something offensive. Such comments, from their employer's perspective, can put the company's reputation at stake, especially if there's a big company that wants to merge the two companies together, and they come across such a comment; it can damage the employer's company's reputation.
Also, some employers think that checking social media handles can help them understand a job applicant better. Imagine a woman or man went to a company looking for a job, dressed professionally just because they were looking for a job in that company, but in their social media accounts, they dressed inappropriately, and posting such things will make the employers debate whether they deserve the job or not.

Why Employees Don't Want to Share Their Social Media Handle.
On the other hand, many people feel that their social media details should be personal and stay private. Also, employees may feel uncomfortable knowing that their employer is watching what they post. It can make them feel like they have no freedom to express themselves, especially online. Nobody wants to be judged at work based on what they do in their personal life. For example, imagine an employer who collected their employees social media handles, and the employees mistakenly forgot that their boss had their handles, and they posted something silly and inappropriate; the employers can use that post to start judging them, which can make the employees feel bad and sad, so instead they will feel like it's better to let their details stay private.
Would I Share My Social Media Handle.
Let's imagine that my dream job is on the line and my employer asked me for my social media details. Would I give them? Yes I would gladly give out my social media handles because I see no problem in that. Also if you ask some people the same question, the answer would be yes, because getting the job is more important to them than keeping their social media private.
In conclusion, there's no right or wrong answer to this issue. Some employers may ask that we should share our social media handles, while some won't care. So it's now up to us to decide what's more important to us, maybe our privacy or dream job opportunity.
