"On my 20th Birthday, I Found Out Who My Family Really Is."

Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today's topic is from Hive-Naija, so let's dive in.
Let’s assume today is my 20th birthday. I was expecting a normal birthday cake to celebrate with my parents and birthday wishes from my friends. Instead, I discovered two things on my birthday, which are;
My dad is the runaway son of a big criminal warlord. While My mum is the daughter of a secret agent, someone who catches criminals.
Now, both my dad’s and mum’s families are looking for me to take over their “businesses.” My dad’s family wants me to become the next heir, while my mum’s family wants me to become the next secret agent.
Now let’s understand this.
Like the topic said, my dad’s father, who is also my grandfather, is a big criminal warlord. Which means he has a lot of people working for him, a lot of money, and power. Maybe to me, because my dad ran away that's why my grandfather has been waiting for his son’s child, which is me, to take over his business.

Now, my mum’s father, my other grandfather worked as a secret agent, let’s assume for the government. His work is to catch criminals like my dad’s father and protect innocent people. And now, he’s also looking for me to follow in his footsteps and become a secret agent like him.
But then I asked myself, why didn’t my parents join their parents' businesses?
Maybe my dad didn’t want to live a life full of danger, fear, and crime. He didn't want to hurt people or keep running from the law like some of the mafia and criminals in the novels I read. Because according to what I read, people like them kill and disobey the law. So maybe that’s why he ran away, because he couldn’t follow in his father’s footsteps.

My mum, on the other hand, didn’t want to live in hiding, because that’s what the life of a secret agent looks like. She didn’t want to be part of a risky job where she could lose her life at any time. We all know what the work of a secret agent is, if they’re not careful, they can die in the line of duty. So maybe she just wanted peace and a normal family. That’s why she also ran away.
Why choosing one family over the other is a big problem
Let’s assume I choose the criminal side, which is my dad’s father’s side, I’ll be rich, powerful, and feared. I won’t have to worry about looking for a job or money. But I’ll be doing bad things like hurting people, and maybe even killing.
But if I choose the secret agent side which is my other family side, I’ll be working for the government. I’ll have to live by strict government rules. If I disobey the rules, my life could be at risk. I’ll always be monitored, and I may never have a peaceful life. But the good part is that I’ll be helping innocent people.

So what will I do?
After thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of the situation for a long time, I’ve decided that I don’t want to take over either my dad’s or my mum’s family business. I don’t want to be a criminal, and I don’t want to be a secret agent. I’ll choose to live a normal life, just like my parents did.
I don’t want to live a life where I’m hurting people or risking my life every day. Instead of choosing between my dad’s and mum’s family paths, I’ll start my own small business. Maybe I’ll sell clothes or jewellery, and just live a simple, peaceful and honest life.
In conclusion, Instead of my 20th birthday being full of joy and peaceful celebration, I found out I’m the heir to two powerful family legacies. But rather than taking over either of them, I choose to live a normal, peaceful, and quiet life.

Choosing either of the two sides of your family business comes with its own risks and advantages, and I think you made a great choice, choosing to leave a simple normal life.
Yes oo, I prefer to live a normal and simple life than to become an heir to both my families businesses.

Thank you.
Instead of choosing between my dad’s and mum’s family paths, I’ll start my own small business.” I really love this part. It shows so much wisdom and courage to step away from the drama and choose a peaceful, honest life. Respect for knowing what you want and staying true to it. But honestly I know I will pick either if it was me
If I have to choose one out of the two businesses that mean I'm risking my life because the both businesses lead to bloodshed which I'm trying to afford. So I prefer to start my own business than to choose one of them.
Okay. At least I can do humanitarian work by working in force
But yes it is true there is no bigger crime than disobeying the law and killing people. But such crimes always haunt people. But it is a great misery that a person is really separated from the family. Or many times expelled from the society. But for peaceful living a small business is enough where you can determine your great time and happiness.
