Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today's topic is "News on the hour."

Truth be told, I hate to watch or listen to news. I prefer to watch movies or play games than to sit and be watching news, though it's not that I don't watch or listen to news, but it's not that common. There was a day my brother, roommate and I were sitting down outside our room, so my brother and roommate started discussing an incident that happened that they report on the news, I was left out because I didn't even know what to contribute to what they were saying because. Since then, I started listening to the news just to know the current events, such as political development, economic changes, social issues, and natural disasters, in case if they were discussing it again I would be able to contribute.

Do I believe in everything they say?

No, I don't believe in everything they say in the news, because we don't know if what they say is right or wrong. For example, during the #endsars protest in October 2020, different news reporters were giving us different news; some reporters said the soldiers shot the protesters, some said the military opened fire on unarmed protestants, while some said it's a lie that that's not what happened, leading people into confusion and doubts if they were saying the truth or not, even sometimes if I ask my brother if the news they are saying is true he will say that not all the news they are reporting are true that sometimes they do lie etc.

Another example is a Nollywood actor known as Junior Pope; he was travelling to Asaba in April to shoot a movie with some other people in the boat. While going, their boat capsized, making all the passengers, including Junior Pope, fall inside water. When the reporters heard about it, they announced a fake rumour saying Junior Pope is dead without proper investigation, since then I don't trust them enough. Some other reasons why I don't believe them again are:

If they are reporting the news, we don't know if the news is wrong or accurate enough.

Different news reporters might tell us different stories about the same events.

Sometimes, the news reporters may be exaggerating certain news just to grab or call people's attention.

Some news reporters may even give us false information just to make followers.

Do I have doubts?

Yes, I have doubts that they are keeping some certain and useful information from us, because I know that what's happening in Nigeria is not what they are reporting on the news.

Secondly, some news reporters may only show us certain parts of a story, leaving out the important information.

Also, I know that there is some important information they are hiding intentionally from the public eye so that people won't know about it.

How do I go about getting the right facts?

Though all the news channels are the same for not giving the rightful information,so to get the right facts I have to watch and confirm news from different channels to see if they are aligned or not. And also, I have to choose a channel that they are known for their reliability.

I do not like to listen to news too, I prefer watching skits than wasting my time and resources, it is their choice to decide if they want us to know more or rather keep silent but most news is fake

NES and lies are 5&6. Most times I feel those reporters or bloggers just want to attract traffic so they prefer to spread something fake that will call attention then spreading the right information.

Exactly, they love attention that's why I love spreading false news.
