Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today's topic is: "Is Easy Access A Blessing? so let's dive in.

In today's world, knowledge is just a few taps or clicks away, with our smartphones, laptops, etc., we can learn anything without leaving our bedrooms. Gone are the days when people had to walk miles to a library or wait for books to arrive. But while easy access to information seems like a blessing, does it actually make us smarter?

There's no doubt that technology has made learning easier for us. In the past, if someone wanted to read more about the course they're studying, for example, science, law, history, etc., they had to put in a lot of effort visiting the libraries, buying expensive books, or attending all the classes. But today, everything is available at our fingertips. We can watch anything online, like videos, take online courses, ask AI for help, etc. Such easy access is a blessing that has opened up opportunities for millions of people.

Like what two of my lecturers usually say whenever they are lecturing us during their lecture time, they said we are so lucky to have smartphones with us to answer all questions and answers we are looking for, especially with the arrival of AI (artificial intelligence). Because during their time, they had to walk miles to a library to access the questions or answers they were looking for or buy books to find the answers, but during our time, everything is now easy with the help of AI.

For example, if we want to know more about our course we are doing in the universities or business strategies, we just have to use our smartphones. By this information, student don't have to rely on their teachers or lecturers again, they can just explore the topics given to them in class on their own. This level of blessing, are something our ancestors lack during their time.

However, just because information is available doesn't mean many people are making good use of it. We have some people spending hours on social media, watching funny movies, playing games, etc, instead of them learning useful things. In contrast, our predecessors had to put in efforts to get knowledge by walking miles to library, which made them more serious about learning. During our predecessors time they have to travel miles to get the knowledge, the difficulty of accessing the knowledge made them value it more. Today, because the information is so easy to get, many of us takes it for granted.

One major problem with easy access is Shallow learning. People know a little bit about many things but don't deeply understand it. Many of us rely on quick searches instead of them to think critically. Another issue of access blessing is distraction. While reading books, whether in library allowed deep focus, today's smartphones is full of interruptions notifications. Sometimes, it always happened to me whenever any of my lecturer send any soft material notes to us instead of hard material and am reading it, and suddenly notifications pop-up on my phone instead to continue reading my book I will go and check the notification which already cause distraction or diversion for me, but whenever am reading hard copy materials or reading on my notes and notifications pop-up on my phone I won't even bother to check because I know I will be distracted.

During our ancestors time, they didn't have these distractions. When they sit down to read a book, there is no distraction to pull them away; they only focus on the knowledge they are looking for.

In conclusion, although we have more access to knowledge or information than ever before, but this doesn't make us smarter. True knowledge comes from our efforts and critical thinking. Although easy access is a blessing, but only for those who know how to use it right.

I agree. Easy access is a blessing but we need to cultivate a lot of self discipline to utilize this blessing as a bliss and be safe fron the cursed side of it.

Smart devices are filled with lot of distraction and that we struggle with the focus.

Yes, smartphones are filled with lot of distractions. Also easy access is a blessing because of it we don't need to walk miles to find answers to our questions.

I love your last point, although easy access is a blessing, it is for those who know how to use it in the right way. And this, you have nailed the point. Nicely written dear 😊 👌

The shallow learning is on point. Nowadays, everyone is an expert, but no one can do the job because of this.
Not only knowledge but also how to use this properly is what makes us stronger. Good write-up.
