X-Strategy Chronicles: Journey to Monetization | Episode 5
The more time I spend on X, the more it endears itself to me with the many use cases that I find every now and then. My goal has been to gain more and more impressions—and I have been chasing it for a long time now—but that gets a little exhausting without meaningfulness and purpose attached to my activities. Hence, the numbers started to drop.
I made the decision to think less about my statistics and focus more on finding a space and style for myself. I am still on that journey, and that's what I am keeping on doing now.
Rather than just leave comments on the posts of others on X, I started to make posts of my own. I was sceptical about doing this at the beginning of my journey because I felt I was not equipped to share content that people would consider valuable. However, I had the wrong perception of myself and was self-deprecating.
It doesn't always have to be so elaborate and complex. And so I started to share things that were more reflective of my personality, journey, experiences, and, of course, my content here on Hive. That was good enough for a start, so I went ahead.
Of course, I still didn't get as many impressions as I used to—well, in the hundreds of thousands—but the other numbers in my statistics told me that I was doing alright—just differently.
I had a lot of greens in my stats this time. Of course, the greens indicate performance with respect to the one from seven days ago. Nonetheless, it shows that I did better this time.
For some reason, I had more engagement on my posts this week. And, knowing the importance of responding to comments, I ensured to respond to them all as quickly and regularly as I could. And that's why you see the "engagement rate" as being that high. 3.1% is quite high, really, as it reduces as your impressions go up.
More people checked my profile out this time. And then 19 more followers joined the trail. Since I was sharing my posts on Hive on X more this time—through links—I had more eyes on them as people clicked the links to them a lot more.
It's not exactly a smooth journey, as I tend to come and go sometimes. It's all part of the learning process. This time, my impressions in this last 28-day period are 139.3K. That's better than about 30K that I had a while ago. I have hit 1.6 million before, but that was in November.
My subscription for the last 30 days was over and due on the 21st of December. This time, I had some trouble fixing it as my virtual card seemed to vanish. I am not sure how that happened, but I was quick to salvage the situation and make the payment the next day.
It is actually a way smoother experience with resubscribing than it was when I was starting. I guess it was because it was just the first time.
This may be my last report of the year. I have new plans to take things up a notch in the new year, so I will spend the next couple of days bringing those plans to fruition. I hope to do better, tough. That's the goal, after all.
The idea is to grow as an individual influencer, get monetized too, and then influence my audience and followers to consider Hive in its entirety. That's the grand plan, and I look forward to accelerating its fruition in the coming weeks and months. It's going to be a long ride, but I think I'll find it exhilarating.
