Written Preservations
There are so many actions I've indulged in, when I did not know better and I think many of us have done it too. I think the reason for these, is because when we see something has worked for others, particularly people around us, part of our minds internalizes it as the right thing. The manual becomes close to useless, the moment we have someone around us who is familiar with the gadget, or has been using it for a very long time.
I remember one time, I was with a friend and the network was acting up. We were so frustrated by how slow what we were searching was, that she began to shake her phone so violently, you'd think she wanted to dislodge it's components. I asked her if shaking her phone that way did not in anyway scare her, she said that she does it frequently and the phone has not developed a fault ever since so what could possibly happen? Since I wasn't using a smartphone then, I just shrugged and left her to her phone.

Soon enough, I got my phone and read everything in the manual. There, I saw in the precautions, not to shake the phone violently. I used my phone, bearing in mind, these precautions written in the manual. I met up with that friend sometime after, and the network began acting up again. She made a move to shake my phone, like she did hers and even though her phone still works very fine, I quickly stopped her and said I didn't treat my phone that way.
The digital lifestyle community asks if we're the type to read the manual that comes with our devices or not. My answer is as simple as it could ever be. I enjoy reading manuals. Even for devices I'm quite familiar with, when I get a new one, I read the manual. At this point, and writing about it, I don't think I read manuals to just gain knowledge on how to use my device. I read manuals because I enjoy getting an insight to how the manufacturers think the users should maintain the products. I don't only read the manual for a device. I actually try to follow the rules as best as I can.
We all buy devices, hoping to get the best out of it, don't we? Some of us believe that one of the best ways to protect your devices, is by reading the manuscript from it's producer. I remember the time I ordered a rechargeable fan online. Before it arrived, they'd sent me an e-copy of the manual. I read that e-manual, twice before the fan arrived and when it arrived, I picked up the physical manual and still read it. There's just something about reading a device's manual, that in a way, extends the joy of getting a new device, way longer than it should.
I enjoy reading device manuals. Something I always did while I was younger. I haven't really tried it but if I ever get a new product and don't read the manual, I think I'd feel weird. Like a huge part of my purchase is missing. But I haven't tried it yet so I still can't say.
Anyways, there's my answer to the #digi-prompts for the week. You're welcome to participate.
My pleasure 💞
This is interesting.
You are indeed a patient one.
When it comes to household appliances, I read the manual, but I don't read mobile phones' manual anymore.
I totally agree with what you said and it is interesting to know you read the manual to see other insightful instructions.
It is a great one.
Hehe😂, Thank you. I'm one of those that read everything, as long as it came with the appliance but I still get you with the mobile phones. After all, many of us are quite familiar with mobile devices and there's also the internet to help us.
That's true.
