Run! The Clouds are coming for you

"So, you guys are waiting for me to tell you to start the assembly?" The principal's voice boomed as she stepped onto the field.

We (the students) all treaded carefully around her because as sweet as she appeared, she was the strictest disciplinarian in the school.

We didn't need her to repeat herself the second time and I was the only SS3 student present which was weird. I was not an early bird. I went forward and decided to coordinate the assembly.
I started with singing worship songs and then, praise.

Suddenly, there were clouds moving rapidly above us. One particular ball was diving towards me. But none of us ran. We all just stood watching the clouds do their thing around us.

As the one coming for me, hit me, I found myself in a rocket-like machine. Somehow, I knew the particular buttons to press to steer it in the right direction.
I was driving a rocket.
Amidst dark clouds.

I was so comfortable driving this rocket that I forgot I held the key to my next destination. Quickly, I was approaching a tunnel but I didn't realize it on time because of the dark clouds and my distraction.

I moved the gear forward and pressed one of the numerous buttons on the panel. Luckily I didn't miss the tunnel but was thrown to the side when some part of the rocket collided with the some rocky parts of the tunnel, while getting in.

I lay down there and soon enough, I was in the market, bargaining the price of fish with a seller.
"Ma, please reduce the price. This fish is costly for 3000naira. Let me pay you 2000naira". She refused and I thought of topping the price I had requested of her but before I could speak up again, the clouds began moving rapidly. With how fast they were moving, we all stared till one dark one enveloped me.

This time around, I was lost and was floating in the clouds. Things were really dark in this part of the universe that I couldn't see what was before me and what was after. I floated and floated till I reached the garden behind my hostel. It only lacked the fence that was constructed around the river. I stared around for a while, admiring the beauty of the plants and flowers around me before I noticed the clouds coming for me again. This time, I decided to run. I ran and ran as fast as my legs decided to carry me but the cloud caught up with me and I was back to driving the rocket. I drove my rocket and found myself leading praise songs in school.

The cloud came again and this time, one of the students said to me.
"Senior, run oo. You know these clouds are carrying only you"
As he said that, the clouds reached me. And this time, I surrendered.

When people say they don't remember their dreams, it's something I can't relate to. I dream as much and remember as much. Dreams that have me crying my way to reality, smiling or laughing my way to reality, sweating my way out to reality. I can't count the number of times I've ruled kingdoms, been a detective and strolled through beautiful gardens, in my own fantasyland.

The above is an excerpt of one of my recent dreams. In that fantasyland, I drove a rocket. That particular day, I woke up and realized it was all a dream. I smiled at the weirdness of it all and the fact that I drove a rocket was one I was somewhat thrilled about.

One particular dream I have ingrained in my memory was about a particular man in my church being a serial killer and I was always the one discovering the bodies. The highlight was when I discovered the body of a one-legged man who wasn't so dead. That dream ended on such a cliffhanger that I was so pissed at myself for waking up at that point. But it was creepy because this person was someone I saw very frequently.

I have starred as the main character in thrillers, fantasy, comedy, horror and so many other genres there are, in my dreams. Waking up to remember dreams is actually nice as I get to realize that I've been to worlds I and every other person in reality can never go to. A world for me and me alone, in my fantasy universe.
