I love it when I'm asked simple questions. I mean questions whose answers, I'm most familiar with. Questions like the one the #digital-lifestyle community has for us this week -
They are many devices for listening to music. Do you prefer EarPods, wired earpiece or headphones, or you just like to blast on loudspeaker? Share with us what your listening experience is like.
My answer to this question is straightforward. Have you ever been in a space where you know you constantly need to be at your best, and to be at your best, you need assistance but the source of that assistance, is not completely supported in that space? Many of us must have been there. Let me give an instance. I am currently doing my internship, and at my place of work, my supervisor doesn't support listening to music as one of the things to be done at the office. He once saw a colleague of mine listening to songs using an earpiece while working, and complained about how using an earpiece while at work, was a very unserious thing to do.
Several times as well, I've also heard him reprimand those who play their songs out, even if the volume is reduced to the barest minimum, and only one person within the shortest distance can hear it. Apparently, listening to music, disrupts the focus that's supposed to exist in a workplace, to him. Having seen him talk that way, to others, what best option is there than to find what works?
I'm a huge fan of earpods. Ever since I used my first earpod back in 2023, I knew there was no going back. Let me share with you a current happening in my life that always leaves me grateful for the existence of earpods. At my workplace, earpieces are a crime, aren't they? But I love listening to music and the guy that sits at a table, next to me does as well. We both enjoy the other's playlist since we are fans of similar genres and ergo, sometimes find ourselves sharing earpods. Our supervisor walks to our tables, does whatever he came to do and leaves with no knowledge of what's going on in the background.
I love earpods, mostly because of how discreet they are. In my Nigerian home, I can't imagine washing plates with an earpiece. If my hands don't mistakenly find their way to drag it's rope, my mom will ask me 'what exactly will happen to me if I kept my phone aside for the few minutes it took to wash the plates, then went back to it later?' This rarely happens with my earpods on. As long as I don't come crying to her if eventually, it falls into the sink, she doesn't say a thing, even when she notices. I really don't fancy other listening aids due to how visible and inconvenient they sometimes are.
I can't be wearing a headphone, and be tossing and turning in my bed. I can't wear an earpiece and not be cautious of how I raise my hand so I don't hook my earpiece, keeling my phone in the process. Listening out loudly? That's just not an option for me. I'll rather not listen to music than have to play it all out. If I want to watch a movie and I don't have my earpods with me, or they aren't charged, I'll rather not watch, than watch it out loud. It's even worse when I have someone around me. I might still endure the troubles that come with earpieces, I might have to make do with the intensity that headphones provide but you see, listening out loud? That is just not an option.
Thanks for reading.

Yes, i totally understand your love for earpod.
I love using earpod too.
After seeing a lady in a movie comfortably answering calls just by touching her earpod, it made me buy earpod.
Because I was struggling with answering people's calls, my phone was always far from me.
Then the listening to music is so much better and private with an earpod.
I'm a sucker for those earpods that have touch sensors. Like, I can be away from my phone, and still change a song or answer a call. Earpods, are just the best, where I'm concerned
Definitely 💯

I totally felt this. Earpods are honestly lifesavers, especially when you're in spaces where music isn't exactly "approved". I laughed at the part about washing plates with wired earpiece - so true. The struggle with the cords is real, and I get what you mean about not playing music out loud - sometimes silence is better than all that awkward noise
Fr! At least let whatever noise be to me and myself alone. I hate it when someone does that so I can't even stand myself doing it to someone. I like that you resonated with this post. Thanks for stopping by kri❤️
