Inspired by the Pages - LOH #235

Everytime I come across a beautiful video of people spending time at vacation spots, I admire it and just scroll past. As humans, taking out time to rest and live life to the fullest, is something we all deserve. And enjoying these times of rest, at wonders of nature be it seeing lakes, admiring spectacular animals, and beholding other wonders of nature, isn't just about the body and feeding the eyes. It is a recipe for the soul and mind (or so I think).

The ladies of hive prompt posed a very interesting prompt for this week and the moment I read it, I knew what my answer was going to be.

Have you guys ever been asked a question and you feel like yes, this is something you've actually been waiting to tell the questioner, from the moment you both met? That is simply how this question made me feel. And my reaction is actually because I have this interesting story behind my dream vacation I've been meaning to share with you guys but haven't really had the opportunity to.

I have never been on a vacation before. If taking days off of everything, and deciding to spend those days resting and living in your house, counts as vacation, then yes. Otherwise, I haven't been to an actual one.

However, I've always known where I'd go to first, when I eventually go for a vacation. A decision I made since I was fourteen. And surprisingly, this location was inspired by a book I'd read back then. On that fateful evening, I was reading a book that will forever be engraved in my memory. In that book, the male character took the female character on a date to Finland. They had dinner on a cool evening in spring, the northern lights (aurora borealis) show above them.

I remember staring into space that moment, fitting myself in the female main characters shoes. I've always thought the aurora borealis was something born out of magic. Geography enthusiasts will counter this but that's really how I see it. I read that scene and it's been stuck in my memory ever since.

The first sentence of this post was about how I'd scroll if I come across vacation videos and not make mental notes, right? I hope you understand why now. I already have my first location in mind and I'm not ready to change that anytime soon regardless of how promising a place seems to be. It's even surprising when I think it through, because I'm actually trusting my teenage self to make decisions for my future self. Well you know what? I really don't mind. Maldives is beautiful, Namsan Tower is breathtaking, Santorini is wonderful but you know what? I'll have to go to Finland first, have dinner under the northern lights before considering other places.

So, dear reader, that's simply my answer to the ladies of hive prompt. My ideal trip will be to Finland sometime between Autumn and spring to see the northern lights, alongside it's citizens and probably other tourists.
